Would readers be surprised that the UK Tameside Borough Council in Greater Manchester has refused all requests for real time air pollution monitoring at a major motorway interchange where over 220,000 daily vehicles, most of which are stop started at large Traffic Light arrays and within 60 metres of family homes. In this urban location 11,000 people live in close proximity to this even increasing traffic volumes, but the UK Government having been approached many times as well simply accept the Tameside Councils decision not to monitor the toxins from many HGV`s included. What PM2.5 Particulates and Nitrogen Dioxides the children and babies are daily ingesting is a national scandal which is buried, and not even

Public Directors of Public Health want to know. This must rate as one of the biggest abuses of peoples rights to know what they are ingesting in the UK.

"Please" spread these facts amongst the Epidemiological Groups in the US.

I would like to hear more about the study. As charming as your personal biking anecdotes are, I want to hear more. This article reminds me of the classic ad campaign... "Where's the beef?" Who conducted this study? Exactly how and how much are sperm effected by industrial air pollution? I'm curious to learn more.

And from a Harvard School of Public Health study in the Feb. 1, 2008 issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that air pollution (black carbon) from traffic lowered children's scores on cognitive and memory tests. Urban air pollution from tailpipes is a serious health hazard; thanks for this very personal story.
