I came across this post while doing some research about the subsidy coming to a close - was impressed by the information. I wanted to share another resource for folks who may be in the same boat as me and looking for alternatives and information now that the subsidy is almost up. I used http://www.cobrainsurancebenefits.org and found a lot of good info.

Unemployed since June 2009. Sending out 10-15 resumes a week, if not more. Thank God for the COBRA Federal subsidy that reduces my health cost insurance or I would be without health insurance.

COBRA coverage is available for 18 months. The Federal Subsidy only lasts 15 months. Any plans for it to be extended for the full 18 months we are allowed to continue to receive COBRA coverage from our previous employer?

And sadly, just a mere 5 years ago, who would have ever thought they'd need COBRA for 18 months...much less those going over two years of being unemployed.

So we've been on COBRA, with the subsidy, since April 2009. My husband will be starting a job in late April that includes a health care plan, which they say will start on his start date of 4/26/10. I've already made my COBRA payment (35%) for April, now that I will have group health insurance for the last week of April, will I owe the full COBRA amount for April?
