FIRST, LET ME SAY, I THOUGHT IN AMERICA IT WAS AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION TO SEGREGATE OR TARGET MINORITIES.

Any Person who is a member of any type of minority supporting this is a Hypocrite (and more than likely a practicing christian).

It is IDIOTIC to lay the burden of providing healthcare for children on any minority. OK BLACKS you pay a special tax for living in the inner city where the air isn't so great and your health suffers because of it. Not my choice you live in smog filled city, MOVE. I shouldn't have to pay for you or your kids asthma.

THAT goes for all Minorities. I used blacks as an example because it was one from THIS MINORITY not PROTECTING the RIGHTS of another MINORITY! Hypocritical yet people say Obama is going to be a good president. Yet as part of a minority (his own smoking aside seeing he probably has them given to him as president) he disregards another.

THIS PROGRAM IS DOOMED TO FAIL! People will quit, Cigs will go further underground onto the blackmarket (been there for years) and more purchases will be made from out of country suppliers over the internet making it hard to collect taxes.

So now where is the money now? CONGRESS HAS NO BRAIN! They will never be able to support this program on this tax.... SO NOW WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING TO COME FROM? Anyone in this country ever think beyond tomorrow and into next year to see the consequences... I think not or they would make wiser decisions.

I Also agree with the Athlete eg.! But I beleive Being an athlete is a priviledge or in other words luxery so they shouldn't just have a special health tax for their injuries but I beleive all celebrities should pay a luxery tax! After all being a Celebrity is a Luxery, yes? TAX IT!

Funny how they only seem to tax those who can least afford to make a larger contribution to the tax base. OH WAIT.... If you have money they provide loopholes so you can keep it.... Or gov't bailouts so you don't lose what you have.

Anyone ever think about the financial impact this will have on the children of smokers and the adverse affects of being pushed further into poverty. Gov't should provide FREE Stop Smoking Aid of the citizens preference if they are really interested in people's health but they aren't!

In the end, it's about the money... Who gets it and who they are taking it from.

Hey, the way I see it is like this: if you are opposed to this tax and don't want to provide America's children with health coverage, STOP SMOKING!

It is a Federal bill that is passed, so no pow wow at the reservation, sorry to tell you. Just imagine our forefathers made cigerettes an all time comodity, many would have starved without the revenue. I still believe your taking away my rights. Next you will want to stop me from smoking in my own home.

America no longer is free country. And families should just work harder to provide your family with health insurance, and stop giving to the aliens over our own first. My husband and I had to get married, no insurance we had to pay on time.No one gave us FREE medical when we made a mistake.

This country is getting out of hand with handouts and we all pay.
