I was raped when I was sixteen &am still only seventeen. But even i agree this charging people to pay for the kit is outrageous. The people who need the kits done are already ashamed of what happened to them; they do not need a financial bill to remind them of it. Women who get raped did not ask for it. We said NO & STOP; males did not listen, so we get stuck with the charge? This is ridiculous.

I agree with J Schneider, As a retired police officer it is part of the investigation and the cost should be paid for by the city/county prosecutors office. Why in the world would you charge a person to give evidence on a crime of ones selve? This world is going nuts.

What a ludicrous concept. In my community the costs of the exam are paid for by the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the crime. Just like DNA tests, GSR tests, fingerprint examinations, etc. (all paid for by the lea or county prosecutors office) the sexual assault exam is evidentiary in nature and part of a criminal case and is treated as such.
