Dear SK of Texas

Although ambulance, medical care, etc. are important issues these costs are not the same as rape kits that have the potential of identifying the perpetrator.

Hey DET of CA, before you bash Obama, maybe you should do your research. Obama cosponsored and helped reauthorize the aforementioned Violence Against Women Act, which was originally authored by Joe Biden. So yeah, he has proposed AND voted on legislation to repeal this policy--nationwide.

Some national orginization should put out commericals naming these states urging people there to contact their congressmen about this. The shame of being called out on a national stage should help.

Sadly such a policy is insane! That victims are being billed for forenaic medical exams. Thats terrible.

Judging from the recent editorial comments in papers like the Boston Globe, one would think this rather questionable practice was something Sarah Palin cooked up as mayor of Wasilla, and only stopped at the insistence of the state legislature.

Nobody seems to have noticed that this practice could be found in Illinois, Barack Obama's state. Did he propose or vote on any legislation to repeal this policy? Perhaps he thought the policy was a good idea. Or maybe he just voted "present" when the matter came up for a vote. Do we have any evidence one way or another?

Nobody seems to have noticed that this practice is also found in Arkansas. If Juanita Broaddrick had accused then attorney-general Bill Clinton of rape, would she have had to pay for the rape kit?

Why isn't this High on the list of issues. The people of this country are not aware of this problem and would be utterly discusted. Having been a rape victim (thank God I never received a bill) I am appauled at the idea that our states would bill rape victims for collecting evidence to prosecute perpetrators. This needs to be brought to the attention of the American people.

0bama did nothing to end this horrible practice. He is a disgrace.
