When I was 13 years old I had my first experience with a personal trainer. Some might think I was too young for one-on-one training and what I needed was to spend more time running outside and less time grabbing seconds (and thirds) of my mom’s Rice Krispie treats. At the time, I was a playing a lot of tennis and my body was routinely failing me. I wanted to improve, so naturally a trainer seemed like a good solution.

Some of those options are good but not great. If you really want individualized results nothing beats getting a one on one session with a trainer. Also, one of the top reasons people hire a trainer is for accountability and motivation. Sure those things can help out a little but it will be easier for you to plateau and end up where you started a few months earlier.

I would advise anyone who is wanting to change their lifestyle to get a one on one session with trainer and avoid the frustration of yo-yo exercising and make permanent changes. A Personal Trainer is priceless!

If you want the most effective results from your fitness program and reduce your chances for injury, I suggest you hire a good nationally certified personal trainer. If you cannot afford training sessions weekly at least have a personal trainer to assess you and design a program for you. I can't count the number of times I've seen people in the gym following some exercise program from a magazine or other similar source that's totally wrong for their body type or their physical limitations.
