Born to Run: Christopher McDougall Says Humans Evolved to Run Like the Tarahumara

after reading Born to Run and suffering from hip pain from 21 years of running, got up at 5:30 am this morning and ran barefoot for first time in urban DC. Was a splendid experience! Much more aware of my posture and running style in general. Hit a few gravel pieces here and there but overall the experience was pleasant and I didn't experience pain I couldn't correct for. Can't wait to give it another go tomorrow.

I'm excited to try barefoot running.

Been running long distance for several years, and it makes sense to run barefoot. Gonna give it a try.

there is no "correct" way to barefoot run. when running barefoot, do what feels best with the least pain. this will most likey be a forefoot strike but whatever feels best

I do run barefoot when I run. I admit to being lazy. I find I naturally land on the front part of my foot, that my feet are comfortable in most cases -- except certain size gravel, and I have begun to run barefoot with my eight-year-old son, who has more energy than he knows what to do with and is usually barefoot year round when he's not at school.

Just getting out there and running for fun to burn off energy seems perfectly natural to me. We're trying to run an hour or so a day, which I know doesn't amount to much, but I wouldn't want to turn it into a serious endeavor with specialized shoes and clothing.

It sounds like you're creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place.

Why does the book indicate Scott was in second place in the race while the internet has him as the winner. Who is correct
