I cut my shin on one of the machines. Afterwards, I went into the hot sauna. The next day, my neck was so swollen from a lymph node infection that I had to go to emergency. It took 3 days of antibiotics to go away.

Hillbilly Bill has it right. Skip the gym.

It's a social and emotional trap, not to mention being chock full of germs and bugs.

Unless you're fully addicted as a hopeless exhibitionist, you don't belong there.

There are companies providing door knobs, grab bars, flusher knobs and shower heads that are coated with a silver-based antimicrobial to school locker rooms, gyms, kitchens, and hospitals. Washing your hands is still the best way to get rid of germs, but knowing that my gym has that added protection would make me feel better.

Really?.....pretty soon we're going to be little caged rats who never leave the house because we are afraid of everything in the outside world. Live life, get over it.

I agree with way #7, try exercising more at your desk using a treadmill desk for example, like the TrekDesk or something similar. Not a big fan of the gym.

Stay away from public gyms.

Exercise at home.

Bathe at home.

Walk around the block near home.

I got Hot Tub Folliculitis once from the whirlpool at the local community swimming pool, even though I did shower afterwards. Not a plesaant experience. A itchy rash over my entire body and a low grade fever. Had to go on an antibiotic and cetirizine for a few days. I understand however, that it's extremely rare.
