Great idea, but will this work over the long run?

I agree with the article. I am 56 and run a couple of trail miles several times a week and swim faster than many on the high school swim team 5 times per week. I am in the gym 3 to 5 times per week. I am pain free.

My advice is to back off if injured or in pain and restart slowly. Do not run until you can not stand the pain, then take off 4 weeks then try running 5 miles. The safe way is increase 10% per week. Cross training helps as does running on non-flat surfaces.

Excellent article. The macho aspect of some of the sports and the lack of responsibility of parents when their children receive a head injury or concussion playing soccer, for example, have led to debilitating and permanent injuries that affect their quality of life forever.

Injured players should not continue to risk future head injuries. The threshold for receiving the next concussion is significantly lowered. Is it really wprthit?
