How long will a knee replacement last in someone under 55?

How successful is a knee replacement with someone with arthritis.

If the knee replacement is successful and you walk just over a half hour a day how long will the knee last?

Will I wear out my knee replacements if I walk

four days a week for 1 mine on the treadmill?

I had my knee replaced two years ago and it is wonderful, I weight train three days a week, do yoga and pilates. My problem is deep water aerobics, it seems to stress the joint. I usualy ice the knee for the pain, which subsides and I am fine.. I am wondering if I am putting the artifical joint at risk. I love the water, I also do laps and hate to give it up. Any thoughts on the matter? Appreciate any comment.

Thank You.

Katherine Hobson: Thanks for writing. Deep water aerobics is a low-impact activity, so it's probably not putting the artificial joint itself at risk. But if it's hurting your knee, that's not good -- ask your doctor or physical therapist what moves you should avoid so you don't irritate the tissues around the joint. And congratulations on keeping up your exercise routine!
