Most of these people leaving comments on this site aren't looking at the big picture. This breakthrough isn't just for diabetics, but for so many other people who have to live with uncureable diseases and life changing issues. My little sister has a rare disease that in the future she could lose her large intestent and die at a young age, just because she chooses to eat wheat in the present day. With this new method she could be cured along with many other people. Your looking at it as willingly killing a lab made embryo, whens it's rather saving someone whos life isn't complete just yet.

Human embryo creation and its use for embryo research for stem cell purposes are great strides towards unfolding the mysteries of genetic basis of health and disease. We see good scope for understanding Early human development and wish that someone falls on that gene that controls health in general and gene specific for a disorder. It is written many laboratories are creating human embryos. What they do with such embryos and what research is going on - may be a trade secret. Yet when one deals with such sensitive and divine tissue like embryos- one must keep such research open and for scrutiny. I know it involves corporate dollars. Yet let us remember we are humans limited in vision and time. Economic catastrophe can be taken care off with governmental stimulus package. But human life with variety as the spice of it needs caution and careful handling of such probable or potential person. sheriff

If we can rid this planet of thundering morons like yourself, maybe science can get on with healing the population that actually have "BRAIN CELLS" - IDIOT !!!!

I'm a diabetic who'd much rather spend my life with no hope for a cure than have innocent babies slaughtered "just in case" it would enable me to eat junk food again.

Watch the film The Matrix (1999), we don't need the machines to harvest our young, we are capable of doing it ourselves. The end does not justify the means. There are alternatives to human stem cell research and I think these should be more rigorously pursued.
