Legalize Marijuana? Obama Was Right to Say No

You have no concrete facts. The points that you made were from a report done in the 80s by Tue Reagan administration. Modern science have discounted much of the non sense claims you just posted. It has also added that marijuana can prevent alzheimers and PTSD. All studdies show alcohol to be immensely less harmful then the two drugs we have legalized. You should educate yourself more before basing your opinion on lies and rhetoric. It makes people like me feel like you would rather watch American Idol then be informed.

once an addict always an addict. if obama was any smart as you all think he is he would legalize marijuana. its the smartest choice he will ever make. this country could make sooo much money off all of us marijuana smokers.

You sound like a spoiled brat Dave. Say something nice. There's more than one kind of ignorance.

This is such a narrow-minded article. You do not have the right to tell me what I do to my body. I am not hurting anyone - most especially children. Drug cartels hurt children. You may have the title of "Doctor" but you are not a god.

False go smoke it before you believe government propaganda

Sorry you passed away so young. Sorry you didn't smoke. You may have had a better chance, or at least felt better. Rest you soul and your arguments against freedom.

By legalizing cannabis the government, could regulate it and keep it away from children far more easily. I'm 19 years old and I know for a fact that getting any amount of pot is far easier than acquiring alcohol. By taxing and regulating cannabis, we can ensure a drop in use by minors due to the eradication of an underground market, where drug dealers don't care if they are selling to 9 year olds or senior citizens. The topic of legalization is improperly considered by US policymakers and basically treated like a joke. Well, I don't think half the country is honestly laughing. Soon enough, when the older, less logical generation dies out, the truth about marijuana's insane amount of benefits will finally be known. Legalization will happen, should happen, and has no reason not to happen. The pharmaceutical corporations can take their greedy cash clumped fists and shove them right up their asses, because it's their greed and fear of marijuana's health benefits that's keeping the most useful plant in the world illegal.

...From a group that keeps their jobs by telling us how bad this stuff is for us... Now can we have some NON-BIASED research, from a private firm, or FDA, maybe? Isn't this the very same organization that believed 40 years ago that one puff on a joint could cause complete psychosis, the fabled 'Reefer Madness', of which there is not a single documented case that did not stem from a pre-existing condition, or cannot be linked to one? Also in case you haven't learned to study the topic you're writing about, THC IS the cannabinoid, not a chemical that attaches to it... The receptor it effects is even CALLED the THC receptor... What drug tests read is if there is TOO MUCH THC, or if it's at normal levels, and I know this because I SELL these tests. 'Mutant Sperm'? I have yet to see a single case of sterility, or mutation from THC, and have never seen a credible source attributing Marijuana to these effects, and most sources I've found such claims on also attribute Sterility to Mountain Dew soda, which would be to say that half the US should be sterile right now, not counting the people who are supposed to be sterile from Marijuana.

Unlike you, I researched my report thouroughly. I'm not claiming Marijuana has any health benefits, or has no negitive concequences, but does Alcohol? What about Fast Food? Cigarettes are considered, by most healthcare providers I have ever met, to be infinitely more dangerous that Marijuana, yet they are still legal. Even at that... You throw at least 30 users of Marijuana nationwide in jail every day... this is saying 'Since you might be ruining your life, we WILL ruin it'. How do I know these laws ruin lives? Because I grew up in a household broken by these same laws. I grew up without a Dad because of these laws, and when he did get out, his time had made him bitter and shallow. It was not the Marijuana that ruined an otherwise good person, it was the Prison time he served, with violent people all around him, that took 20 years from my father's life, caused him to denounce his God, and allows the Government to tax him even though he can't vote until he is off probation(Also known as Taxation without Representation, the very reason America broke off from Britain originally).

I understand arresting someone giving this stuff to kids, or making a disturbance, but if I'm not smoking in public, and keeping to my responsibilities, what business is it of yours what I put in my body? If I die, so what, the Social Security administration gets a break by not having to pay me when I'm retired, right? Not that I'm interested in dying, but I still don't need the Governments' help in managing my personal life, and if you do, then you should look into a 'Nursing Home', and they'll set you up with someone to manage every aspect of your life.

That's my piece.

There are other studies that the drug doesnt have the effects that are listed in this article. There are studies that show no addiction. Also stated that it is terrible for our youth to have because of brain development why leave it on the street for kids to get their hands on regulate it. If it is looked at from this stand point then all alcohol manufactures and cigarette companies should be shut down, and alcohol and tobbacco should be outlawed. It is eaiser for children to get marijuana that beer. Keeping it outlawed just makes more debt. You will never make it dissappear. Now the synthetic verisons are hitting the stores and no one knows what the harm is in smoking these legal incense. There is not one documented account in the world of marijuana killing someone, not like the legal cigarette or alcohol. I know for a fact that marijuana is not addictive by the way. I smoked marijuana for about 4 years before joining the army after September 11th 2001, by the way I dont know how I ever passd the drug test guess uncle sam needed me pretty bad, I had no problem with withdraws. No problem learning new skills from common soldering to my heavy deisel mechanics MOS, Or my towing and recovery school. I actually recived awards for a wire diagram that bypassed a major component on the PLS that controled the hydrolics on this type of vehicle. Because some genius with a PHD didnt think that sealing the rotory switches would keep sand out of them thus keeping them from freezing up. I made the diagram to switch to toggle switches. I recived my award for saving the army over $300,000 in logistics. Also I became the go to guy, you know the one that knows everything about the vehicles. To bad marijuana messed up my brain when I was a teen I could have been the next Einstein.
