How Much Vitamin D Is Enough?

I'm taking 5,000 iu vitamin D-3 daily on my doctor's suggestion because I am low. I will be taking this dosage for 6 months until I see the doctor again. My concern is, is that too long to be on that high of a dose?

I had some really bad health issues for a while... we thought I had CFS.

I started taking 10,000 IU Daily and found HUGE improvements. Better than any prescription I had tried.

I would scale up to it slowly... but it was like feeling "life" pouring back into me.

I didn't realize how little sun I had been getting prior to getting sick, it might have been a contributing factor with some of the health issues I was having.

I just got my blood tested for vitamin d and my doctor suggested that I take 2,000 ui's of it a day. I got my thyroids taken out almost 11 years ago. I have been feeling run down lately, is that enough for me to take or is it the right amount?

I am taking 10,000 units of D3 a day.

I have had double cataract surgery this year compounded with an eye disorder Fuchs dystrophy.

Do you think this D3 helps or hurts my eyes. I started taking it a year ago because I had fibromyalgia like aches. My wellness counselor said this would help. I am 51 and she thought it might be hormonal, thus the high dose of D. What do you think?

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF TOO MUCH VITAMIN D. MY MOTHER MISUNDERSTOOD DIRECTIONS FOR HER VITAMIN D AND WAS TAKING 50,000 UNITS DAILY, RATHER THAN 50,000 ONCE A WEEK.

HER HAIR BEGAN TO FALL OUT; SO, I CHECKED HER MEDICATIONS AND SAW THE MISTAKE SHE HAD MADE. COULD TOO MUCH VITAMIN D CAUSE THE HAIR LOSS?

THANKS,
