Chloramphenicol works by preventing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential to them. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers.

Dr. Nissen obviously has an agenda. He seems to take pride in putting out metanalyses that confuse people in the general public. The totality of data surrounding Avandia (RECORD, BARI-2D, ADOPT, ACCORD, VADT, etc) contain long-term, robust data that not only show Avandia does not increase risk of heart attack, but may even decrease that risk (reference the January issue of Circulation citing data from the NIH funded BARI-2D trial).

The media, and Dr. Nissen, are extremely negligent in fully conveying all of the scientific information on this, and other medically significant topics.

My prayer is that somehow, Dr. Nissen can be held accountable for his actions.

Could Advandia be linked to hypertensive and atheroscierotic cardiovascular disease?
