Are Mercury Dental Fillings Safe?

The FDA is reconsidering their unsupported decision stating that there are no risks from mercury amalgam fillings.

I was struck with double vision seven days after having an old amalgam removed and replaced with a new one. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus and then Myasthenia Gravis. Thee medical profession admits not knowing what the cause of any of these autoimmune diseases are. It's a serious crime not to look at the possibiliy of mercury toxicity.

I had my fillings removed by a mercury-free dentist and slowly recovered.

The medical and dental profession will have to wake up and start telling patients the truth they are entitled to.

Dr. Palfrey, in your role as a physician is it routine for you and your colleagues to test a child for mercury toxicity, perhaps determine the number of mercury fillings, or to assess the mercury load of his or her mother? (it is well documented that mercury passes the placental barrier) What guidance, if any is given by the FDA with regard to permissible mercury levels in a child from dental mercury? Please read the comments of the scientific advisory panel at the 2006 FDA hearing on dental amalgam to ascertain the gap in data regarding what level of exposure is too much for the "hyper sensitive" population. You will find that those facts are as mythical as mermaids, spoken about yet never seen.

Please urgently view my web site www.julietpratt.co.nz.

I suffered 9 years of chronic fatique as a result of 40 amalgam fillings being placed in my teeth as a child/teens........I will be travelling the World & speaking about this serious World wide health issue from 2011. (Global powerstepping)

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1981. 3 hospitalizations, 8 different medications including oral and intravenous chemotherapy for MS, experimental Plasmaphoresis, bedridden for 10 years, slurred speech and dying. I had my dental amalgam mercury "silver" fillings removed and guess what? All symptoms gradually disappeared, NO medication, NO relapses, NO symptoms, except this left me in a wheelchair! Improvement started to happen 2 weeks after all amalgam fillings were removed. Prior to mercury dental removal I had 1 to 3 relapses per year and haven't had 1 relapse since 1989.

If I had NOT had my dental amalgam fillings removed I wouldn't be here today...I would have died. There are NO SAFE levels of MERCURY. I had my amalgams implanted in my mouth at 7 or 8 y/o.

Pg 7(215) line 4(transcript) of the 2006 FDA public hearing on dental amalgam DR. NG: " I know something about the New England amalgam trial, although I was not involved in it. But I think it has to do with the study design, and it was purposefully designed to enroll children who are older and without medical problems."

Perhaps you might ask Dr.Ng about the scientific studies conducted on younger children with compromised immune systems, or those with medical problems. The study she refers to is the New England Childrens Study. For starters, it is unclear why children would have been exposed to such a study, if safety is what was to be determined. Is it a self-fulfilling prophecy to only test those who are older and known to be healthy?

My apologies Dr. Palfrey, however, within your own article the suggestion that mercury vapor might be an exposure during removal is a bit convoluted. Please refer to www.iaomt.org for insights in presenting a fair and balanced comment about the exposure of mercury in dental amalgam.

Missing from this article is any reference to environmental degradation caused by dental waste.

This sounds exactly like the "talking points" of the American Dental Association who.... have some legitimate concerns regarding the potential of mass litigation should the public understand that dentists have been implanting a very dangerous neuro toxin into the teeth of over 90% of America.

Any chemist knows that mercury is a liquid at room temperature and remains so to -38F. It also vaporizes at all temperatures even when it is a solid.

If you would like to see a low copper Hg amalgam vaporizing live go this link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN5QVL4N9oU

The more recent high copper amalgam recipes look like a volcano instead of this gentle wafting.

This video was done with a short-wave UV light against a phosphorescent screen to capture the shadow of the Hg vapor in front of it. The light frequency can be seen because the Hg vapor is within the range of the UV light.

This would not work if it were water vapor as some have claimed. Perhaps they hope the public is not knowledgeable enough to understand this.

How do I know this video is legitimate? Because I took the footage myself.

Somehow, magically, the toxicity of this dangerous metal just goes away. In the meantime Alzheimers and autism rates skyrocket as the poisoning effects build up generation to generation. People, think for yourself.
