Well, this was a fantastic piece of information i was not aware of. I didn't knew that Mercury can be so dangerous. Thanks a lot for sharing this knowledge with us.

still very concerned about this... having brain problems myself, with 8 mercury fillings, and just not sure i feel or trust the FDA. Look at how many illnesses are taking over the population and how we are so uncertain what is causing all of them to spread. i.e. cancers, birth defects, etc.

There has been an overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary of what your article says in reply to this very important question. When putting forth information such as this to many people online you have a social responsibility to reply truthfully. Amalgam mercury fillings are toxic, this point is a fact the FDA has ignored. Please don't pass mis-informed information to people...it is not right.

The best approach is to have ALL amalgam extracted by a supportive dentist, then use an amalgam chelation therapy to rid the body of built up mercury toxicity.

After you do this, you will have less health problems...

a little history...my wife had 7 amalgam fillings and multiple autoimmune issues, thyroid issues were the worst. We had all the fillings removed and now her thyroid levels are leveling out, which means, no more daily thyroid hormone pills. All the other health problems have gone away entirely as well.

I am not a doctor but can speak from years of experience and research in helping my wife to get a handle on this.

It was the amalgam filling

You wrote: "During chewing and tooth grinding, very low levels of mercury vapor may be released from the amalgam in the mouth that can be inhaled. Although high levels of mercury vapor exposure are associated with adverse effects in the brain and the kidneys, the amount of mercury measured in the bodies of people with dental amalgam fillings is well below levels associated with adverse health effects. In actuality, daily amounts of mercury from non-dental sources, such as from food, water, and air, exceeds the very small amount released from amalgam fillings."

The World Health Organization concluded in 1991 that a non-industrialized person's greatest exposure to mercury comes from dental amalgam fillings, not food, water, or air: "In 1991, the World Health Organization confirmed that mercury contained in dental amalgam is the greatest source of mercury vapour in non-industrialized settings, exposing the concerned population to mercury levels significantly exceeding those set for food and for air."

The chemist Dr. Gerard F. Judd (PhD) understands the harmful neurological effects of methyl-mercury on the brain and writes how it affects an individual's long-term health simply from the exposure they get from their amalgam fillings. The more fillings they have, the greater the risk of long-term neurological damage.

You wrote: "Many dentists consider amalgam to be the material of choice in particular circumstances. We advise you and your daughter to share her concerns with her dentist. If additional dental fillings are needed in the future, discuss with her dentist the available choices for filling materials, along with their risks and benefits."

The same dentists that kowtow to the American Dental Association? Do you take us for fools? Next you'll be telling me how fluoride, the smallest negatively charged ion, has no effect on the hydrogen bonds of proteins, enzymes, tissues, cells, and DNA. Sorry, but it's 2012, and fewer people simply accept what is told to them by governments and other authority figures. We know how to do our own research. These dinosaurs who continue to preach the safety of harmful substances are going extinct. Remember the trans-fat issue? Trans-fats were considered to be safe until it took the likes of a biochemist named Mary Enig and other scientists to reveal the truth. The same is being done about amalgam fillings and other toxic substances.

This article is wrong. MERCURY FILLINGS ARE HIGHLY TOXIC AND DANGEROUS. I was told misleading information of the safety of mercury fillings for a long time. While they were in my mouth I was sick ever since I could recall with over 50 symptons (and two incurable diseases of suppsoed no known origin or cure which miracously became cured after removal of this deadly poison ten times more potent than lead). After removal I nearly died due to more mercury exposure. I have spoken to people all over the country on this issue and has discovered many injured people due to mercury fillings. It is not rare to suffer severe mental (since it is a potent neurotoxin and can trigger depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc) or physical consequences MS, alzheimer's parkinson's, etc. The truth is under wraps because no organization wants repsonsibility for the ilness and premature deaths of millions of innocent Americans(particularly the FDA and the ADA, the American public will find this appalling and want to know why this was covered up for so long). I often wonder if those promoting safety were asleep in their introductory highschool biology and chemistry classes - perhaps many so-called experts should relearn the basics. And illness is a big industry. There is no economic interest in finding causes, but rather making drugs. What has been cured in decades, huh???? If you remove the mercury out of 200 million of us I am certain we would not need as many drugs for the 100 disorders connected thus far. The research promoting safety is flawed or intimate with the organizations interested in promoting safety to keep us confused. This makes the Big Tabacco liability look like patty-cake in comparison. Anyone promoting the use of mercury in ANY consumer product has no credibility or lacks education.

Sincerely,

Amalgam filling have side effects primarily because they contain mercury. It acts as poison in human body;

1.Mercury is a scientifically proven neurologic poison, which means that it poisons all nerve tissue, including the brain.

2. Mercury is a scientifically proven enzyme poison, which means that it inhibits or prevents enzymes from working.

3. Mercury is a proven female reproductive poison.

Van Nostrand's Scientific Encyclopedia Sixth Edition 1983 states "Toxicity: Mercury and its compounds, with few exceptions, are highly poisonous to living organisms. Particularly, in conection with finely-divided mercury metal, extreme care must be taken to avoid inhalation of and contact with the element." This is just one scientific encyclopedia. The dental industry lives in a bubble and they want us to believe them. The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Canada only suggests that dentists use rubber dental dams when working with mercury dental amalgams in people's mouths. The dental industry still uses mercury. I have two relatives who have 12 to 16 mercury dental amalgams each. I have had at least 32 placements/removals of mercury dental amalgams on ONLY SIX TEETH. The dentist I used early last year removed an old mercury dental amalgam without the use of a rubber dental dam, oxygen, or running water to carry away the residue of drilling.

He is a younger dental professional and he does not know how dangerous mercury is, however, he had a mask and gloves so that he did not touch the mercury.

Please refer my web site www.julietpratt.co.nz.

or google amalgam Juliet Pratt

I was very sick for 9 years...............

I petitioned our New Zealand Government to ban these toxic fillings but to no avail.I have not given up and will try again, after I have travelled the world making people aware of the toxicity of mercury amalgam.

I am now an international speaker, if you know any health organisations etc who would like to hear my presentation on "Steps all the way to Parliament" please contact me through my web site.

Thank-you

Documentation that amalgams are the largest source of mercury in sewers and sewer sludge and a major source of mercury in water bodies, fish, and the environment is found at: www.flcv.com/damspr2f.html

studies by EPA, Municipal Sewer agencies, etc.
