Are Mercury Dental Fillings Safe?

This article is wrong. MERCURY FILLINGS ARE HIGHLY TOXIC AND DANGEROUS. I was told misleading information of the safety of mercury fillings for a long time. While they were in my mouth I was sick ever since I could recall with over 50 symptons (and two incurable diseases of suppsoed no known origin or cure which miracously became cured after removal of this deadly poison ten times more potent than lead). After removal I nearly died due to more mercury exposure. I have spoken to people all over the country on this issue and has discovered many injured people due to mercury fillings. It is not rare to suffer severe mental (since it is a potent neurotoxin and can trigger depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc) or physical consequences MS, alzheimer's parkinson's, etc. The truth is under wraps because no organization wants repsonsibility for the ilness and premature deaths of millions of innocent Americans(particularly the FDA and the ADA, the American public will find this appalling and want to know why this was covered up for so long). I often wonder if those promoting safety were asleep in their introductory highschool biology and chemistry classes - perhaps many so-called experts should relearn the basics. And illness is a big industry. There is no economic interest in finding causes, but rather making drugs. What has been cured in decades, huh???? If you remove the mercury out of 200 million of us I am certain we would not need as many drugs for the 100 disorders connected thus far. The research promoting safety is flawed or intimate with the organizations interested in promoting safety to keep us confused. This makes the Big Tabacco liability look like patty-cake in comparison. Anyone promoting the use of mercury in ANY consumer product has no credibility or lacks education.

Amalgam filling have side effects primarily because they contain mercury. It acts as poison in human body;

1.Mercury is a scientifically proven neurologic poison, which means that it poisons all nerve tissue, including the brain.

2. Mercury is a scientifically proven enzyme poison, which means that it inhibits or prevents enzymes from working.

3. Mercury is a proven female reproductive poison.

Van Nostrand's Scientific Encyclopedia Sixth Edition 1983 states "Toxicity: Mercury and its compounds, with few exceptions, are highly poisonous to living organisms. Particularly, in conection with finely-divided mercury metal, extreme care must be taken to avoid inhalation of and contact with the element." This is just one scientific encyclopedia. The dental industry lives in a bubble and they want us to believe them. The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Canada only suggests that dentists use rubber dental dams when working with mercury dental amalgams in people's mouths. The dental industry still uses mercury. I have two relatives who have 12 to 16 mercury dental amalgams each. I have had at least 32 placements/removals of mercury dental amalgams on ONLY SIX TEETH. The dentist I used early last year removed an old mercury dental amalgam without the use of a rubber dental dam, oxygen, or running water to carry away the residue of drilling.

He is a younger dental professional and he does not know how dangerous mercury is, however, he had a mask and gloves so that he did not touch the mercury.

Please refer my web site www.julietpratt.co.nz.

or google amalgam Juliet Pratt

I was very sick for 9 years...............

I petitioned our New Zealand Government to ban these toxic fillings but to no avail.I have not given up and will try again, after I have travelled the world making people aware of the toxicity of mercury amalgam.

I am now an international speaker, if you know any health organisations etc who would like to hear my presentation on "Steps all the way to Parliament" please contact me through my web site.

Thank-you

Documentation that amalgams are the largest source of mercury in sewers and sewer sludge and a major source of mercury in water bodies, fish, and the environment is found at: www.flcv.com/damspr2f.html

studies by EPA, Municipal Sewer agencies, etc.

Very little in the article on amalgam is accurate. The author consulted a very unknowledgable source. Amalgam fillings are not stable, since mercury is a gas at room temperature and mercury from fillings vaporizes continuously from as soon as they are placed. Amalgam is documented to be by far the largest source of mercury in most people who have amalgam fillings, verified by hundreds of thousands of tests by medical labs and by government agencies. www.flcv.com.damspr1.html Due to the high exposure to people amalgam fillings are also the largest source of mercury in all sewer systems and sewer sludge, which all have high and dangerous levels, as well as making amalgams a major source of mercury in water bodies. Over 50% of U.S. water bodies are doc. to have high levels of mercury in fish, resulting in warnings. Exposure to amalgams is documented to be a common cause or factor in over 30 chronic health conditions, especially autoimmune or neurological or cardiovascular or hormonal conditions. And replacement of amalgam is doc. in clinical experience and the med. literature to usually result in improvement or cure of these conditions. www.flcv.com/indexa.html

I attended the hearings in Washington D.C. conducted by Congressman Dan Burton R-Indiana) and Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-California). These hearings were part of the Committee on Government Reform, Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness, a Subcommittee Hearing entitled "Consumer Choice and Implementing Full disclosure in Dentistry." This was held May 8, 2003

You can read reports from the hearings at Government Printing Office site:

The first hearing of the Government Reform Committee, "Mercury in Dental Amalgams: An Examination of the Science" was held November 14, 2002.

Read the reports for yourself to see what is really going on.

Over 50% of all dentists in this country now practice mercury-free dentistry. There's a reason for that. Mercury is the most toxic non-radioactive element on earth. The mercury in amalgam fillings is not "locked" in or safe. When a dentist removes an amalgam filling from your mouth, it's treated as hazardous waste and has to be disposed of accordingly. If you believe it's safe in your mouth, then you're either stupid or gullible.
