My Brother Is Healthy but Overweight. Is He at Risk?

My biggest concern for everyone I meet today is not being aware of hypertension (i.e.-high blood pressure) and not taking medication. I am now on disability leave as I have recently suffered a mild stroke known as Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and not taking my medication. I was hospitalized for 6 days where I had two MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasound to determine the level of the problem. I fortunately survived but many others won't if unaware as it is a "silent killer". Healthy diets are vital to survival. On top of forgetting my medication, I fell victim to a Double-Double with fries at In/Out Burger. Tasted good going down, but it could have been my last. Paramedics rushed me to a hospital and I survived. I am waiting for an operation to insert a stent in my artery as well.

Good answer to the question. My comment is on the two comments prior to mine. They are examples of why there are so many unhealthy people in this nation of plenty. Good advice is inevitably drowned out by the strident, derisive voices of those whose purpose seems to be to convince "brother" that he's doing nothing wrong, and shouldn't listen to his doctor, dietitian, or sister who are trying to save his life.

Doctors know everything.

Doctors are god's among us mere mortal men.

You have to listen to anyone who wears a white lab coat.

They hold your life in their hands.

Out of curiosity, how did the doctor know that the brother should reduce saturated and transfats - he might get very little saturated or transfat in his diet, and plenty of fiber and vegetables already. Proportions aren't listed.
