Can I Prevent Muscle Loss, or Sarcopenia?

In early July, 2006 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a biopsy and my urologist tried to scare me into undergoing a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy. I demurred, opting for Watchful Waiting and researching the problem in my local public library and over the Internet. I soon devised my own diet and stayed with it assiduosly. 13 months after my first biopsy I underwent my second and the results were: No Cancer! I teased my uro (a woman) who later shunted me off to another uro without consulting me first so I quit All uros at that point and have never seen another one. Now I'm 72 and have more energy - thanks to my diet than I had during the 10 years preceding the advent of my regimen. American doctors are far too quick to push operations onto their patients, write prescriptions, set up radiation treatments and/or chemo-therapy for cancer patients while completely ignoring the importance of diet, fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

My comment is actually a question?

Are there any safe medications, are harmones that are safe to use and are effective in increasing muscle growth?

Many magazines advertise a Medical Doctor approved programs which include steriod like injectible suppliments. Many MDs and the military consider them illegal and dangerous.

What are your thoughts and guidelines on this topic?
