Is Occasional Marijuana Use Bad for Adolescents?

It doesn't really effect your grades if you use it occasionally. I actually had my grades and ambition go up. I think it's different depending on the user. I think it's not a healthy thing to do as a teen, but it's not as bad as alcohol abuse and drug abuse. I know that marijuana is a drug but it's categorized and generalized in the alcohol and tobacco section. It's probably the LEAST harmful in the occasional usage.

well im 17 years old and i have pot about 2 times a year

and lets see it is the happiest time for me

what can i say life is just crap

the trials and tribulations of daily life re to much for me 2 handle

pot makes me happy , laugh , and just generally uplifts me

a person with enough money to buy it everyday should be allowed to smoke it

I started at 12 with one my country neighbors(I grew up in the sticks, not much to do). I got great grades, was on student council, and an eagle scout in high school. I not only smoked weed, but liked to smoke a lot of weed. I also found I was very good at growing weed. Now I am 31, and use pot for pain(I have had some bad injuries that cause constant pain). I see no problem with legalization, and think crime will go down, kids will not have criminal drug records, and I can finally stop looking over my shoulder(I live in Denver now and have my MMJ card, and the cops here don't care about pot anyway).

I smoke every day and I am not lazy and in deed an excellent worker. Sharon, when u make statements in the article that are so general, u sound ignorant. I illegally use pot for medical reasons. People like yourself who probably don't smoke, make it difficult for America to truley undertand the benefits. Wake up! It's 2010, legalize and tax it, our economy needs it and so do most Americans! Roll a Joint and listen to Bob Marley or the Beatles, it might change your mind and open your mind to a "drug" that's not even close to as harmful as a teen drinking out of ur liquor cabinet.

Pot smoking as a teenager beginning on my 16th birthday (friend gave me 1/4 oz. pot as a gift) really messed me up! High school was a joke to me (Yeah, "high" school) and being high on grass most of the time made it impossible for me to concentrate on or memorize my schoolwork. I am 53 years old now and enrolled in college with a 3.81 GPA. Don't even ask what my grades were back in the day when I spent four years in and out of college to earn two semesters worth of barely acceptable credits. My advice: Thinking about trying a consciousness expanding activity? Try volunteering in your community. Consider studying or working in a foreign country Do something that will make you feel needed and improve your self-worth. We live in a free country, and we are free to make our own choices, good or bad. Please choose wisely.

Marijuana and Kids—Is Occasional Use OK?

Yes, it is perfectly safe. Also, indicated where the child has attention decefits and is disruptive in class. By the way, I'm serious. Look it up on utube and listen to the doctor who treats children this way.

People blaming Cannabis for their family members' and friends' lack of responsibility and poor decision-making skills are pathetic. Marijuana does impair you. I'm not going to try to mislead you or cut facts. However, it doesn't impair anyone badly enough to the point that they lack the ability to differentiate fact and fiction (ie. jump off a 3-story building or try to stop a train with one finger). To say so is completely, utterly FALSE. Nobody is going to die from marijuana. Usually, you're okay enough to drive, however I would advise against it. Also, it's not a gateway drug. If anything, alcohol's more dangerous in that regard. Besides, marijuana has little to no physical addiction. From my experience, there are no withdrawal effects. Marijuana hardly leads to other kinds of drugs. Want to know why? Because, that decision is sheerly in the person's choice. If someone wants to start doing coke after smoking some weed, that's HIS fault.

In conclusion, all these destroyed lives, problems, and deaths are solely related to people's own bad decisions and lack of responsibility and not the drug. Marijuana is harder to get addicted to than alcohol, and alcohol impairs judgement and perception a lot more. It also does more harm to the body.
