It is important to look at your father's side of the family as well as your mother's. I inherited the BRCA2 mutation from my father who passed away from pancreatic cancer. His mother passed away from breast cancer before she was 50. I was diagnosed with stage IIIc ovarian cancer when I was 41 years old in 1987. These mutations are not always passed on by a person's mother. They can be passed on by your father as well.
