Hospital Parking, a Pain in the Purse

Well, I do hope the Brits drop the (up to $55/day) parking charges. But, we Americans need to figure out how to drop the $5,000 a day charges for the hospital care itself.

Dang but we're a stupid bunch of voters, loving our for-profit insurers as we do. I think maybe a plausible cause and effect theory might be that we're under the undue intoxicating influence of the National Football League---while Brits and other nations are not.

Comarow On Quality

U.S. News's Avery Comarow has been editor of the America's Best Hospitals annual rankings since they first appeared in 1990. His reporting on clinical medicine, from the latest cholesterol guidelines to robotic surgery, has been driven by the question: What does this mean to patients? And that is the perspective he brings to his observations and commentaries on the increasing number of programs by hospitals and other healthcare providers to improve care and patient safety.
