Caring for a Loved One With Alzheimer's: New Insight on Memory Care

My brother and sisters were caring for mom after dad passed. When we could no longer keep up (due to mom's increasing dementia and early onset Alzheimer's) we hired agency caregivers. However, we needed to make sure caregivers were doing what we hired them for and we needed a system for tracking communication, accountability and coordination of care. Because several of us live hours away from mom, we keep track of her daily care-plan and caregiver tasks using the CARECHEQ website. Caregivers post text messages when they arrive and leave, as well as the few tasks they complete during the day that help mom. Definitely helps us all feel more connected to mom and her ongoing care. There are other features too, but having a history of care, including medications, reactions, etc allows us to intervene proactively.
