Why is Heartland Spine & Specialty Hospital, Overland Park KS not included in this survey? They recently received the the Summitt Award from Press Ganey for ranking in the 95% for the past three years?

As my husband has had a spine surgery and two knees replaced recently (we are rebuilding him), I am in agreement with the ranking of NE England Baptist Hospital. I cannot write enough about the doctors, nurses and even the food...

Just wanted to agree, that the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix has highly rated nurses that shows they care for their patients.
Very nice to see them get the reconization they deserve...
It would be nice if their management would honor them in some outstanding way for this national achievement......

I am very blessed to work at The Medical University of SC as a nurse and proud to see our nurses ranked as friendly and informative! I knew we were all along!
I have had the opportunity to have both of my son's cared for by one of the best Pediatric Endocrinologist in the world and even luckier to work with such a great team. My boys are "big and strong", thanks to the care they received at MUSC by Dr. Appiagyei. I am forever thankful.

Do we know the staffing ratios at theses hospitals and does that correlate with the satisfaction numbers?
I truly think it is not our front line workforce that is the issue- if we had enough time to adequately care for patients by increased staffing, satisfaction numbers would go up.
Hospitals are spending millions on consultants to teach staff to "communicate and care" for patients, with the goal of increasing patient satisfaction,-there is such a disconnect JUST INCREASE STAFFING LEVELS--I know administrators say it is not fiscally possible to simply hire more staff , we all know we have a budget. How about a job share pool where at some point a unit has less staffing need one day a designated staff member could help in another unit based on float pools but better managed. Instead of getting the begging phone call to come in on your day off or not to come in and take a vacation day- set up a computerized call-in system either by phone or online (akin to staffing/scheduling many hospitals have presently)--yes there may have to be a bonus attached but I can assure you it will be less financial burden than having a Corporate Consultant come in to train hospital staff to be better team members.

Interesting. My sister had a horrible experience at the Hospital for Special Surgeries in NYC a few years back. We noticed most patients had private duty nurses and it was easy to see why. The night shift was horrendous. My sister almost died of neglect.
