Hospital Patients Speak Their Mind in Satisfaction Surveys

I've been a nurse for 32 years and most of the doctors and nurses that I have had the privilege of working with are dedicated to their patients and focused on providing the best care possible. However doctors and nurses are human and unfortunately human beings make mistakes. I can't say that hospital administrators, nor insurance companies are dedicated and focused on providing the best care. Hospitals frequently are interested in making the most money and not suffering any consequences for mistakes. Insurance companies seem to want to make as much money as possible and the patient be damned. I'm fortunate to work at a hospital when mistakes are made they aren't covered up. Instead there is an honest discourse about the mistake to decrease the chances of future mistakes. Needless to say my hospital is among the top ten in the country.

I love my patients and my care of them will never suffer because of my salary, benefits or morale. I would rather not show up to work than to neglect a patient.

Is there a relationship between satisfaction and good grammar. From what I can see on this page, the better the grammar, the more satisfied the person is with services.

Kinda makes you wonder if we don't have a communication problem between patients and health care givers due to the inability of some to articulate their needs and problems.

For the person who said there are to many ppl out there flooded the hospitals and to many laws to treat ppl I hope you rot in hell for that stupid selffish statement. Dr. Out there are already making mistakes and not caring for patients and causing more deaths. If ppl would stop picking the medical field because of the money then you wouldn't be bothered by the laws cause you would be doing what you love. That goes for the nurses as well. I'm sick of those in the medical world who comes in to work with attitudes like patients are bothering them. They need to make it more possible and easier to report ppl poor behavior after each visit and something get done about it.

I understand the pressures of Dr. todays the whole healthcare field really.

i visited Watonga municipal hospital ER, the whole staff was rude and insensere. The Dr. and nurses made jokes of my babies problem to one another. On one occasion the Dr. told me he was tired of welfare mommys coming in with snotty nosed kids like it was an emergancy. this is a shame.

my son recently visited the Emergency room. I was extremely pleased with the quick, effecient, R.N. who assisted him. Her name is Gennie. The M.D. on duty was professional and empathetic with my son. His name is Dr. Mattox. They both should be recognized for their wonderful caring attitudes. I am so pleased with the service I can not tell you enough. Thankyou to you all.

All I can say is there are too many people flooding our hospitals, too much law to do the right thing for patients, and too many patients believe they know it all-then go home and treat yourself!

I went into this hospital to deliver a baby; the doctor walked out in the middle of my delivery and said his shift was up. He had me push too early so he could leave; consequently, I suffered perineal tearing. My hip dislocated in the process and the nurse yelled at me for not walking enough postpartum. My husband went in for a mild heart attack and sat in the ER unattended for 7 hours- they gave him a tylenol and discharged him, then billed us 1200 dollars. My son went in with an ear infection- they handed me a syringe full of motrin (which I already had in my purse) and had me give it to him, then charged 800 dollars for administration of it. A former co-worker went in for knee surgery and died from severe infection a week later. My great aunt went in for a blood transfusion, the paramedic bent the needle in her arm 3 times and she was sent home with a major staph infection. These are just a few personal stories from one hospital, which is the only local hospital in our area- when do the patients get a say in our quality of treatment? When does someone stand up for OUR rights? We have to sign a piece of paper going in that says we won't sue when they "mispractice", and can't get admitted without advance payments and a signature not to hold them responsible. We are required to pay them thousands of dollars per visit for neglectful practice and pitiful excuses for medical treatment. This has to stop...

ON JUNE 11, 2009 MY MOM LINDA DIANN AYMOND, CNNP WENT TO RAPIDES REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN ALEXANDRIA, LA. FOR A URINARY TRACT INFECTION. AFTER 45 DAYS IN THE ICU THEY REMOVED MY MOMS VENTILATOR AND INJECTED HER WITH FENTONYL 4 TIMES AFTER SUFFOCATING TO DEATH FOR 91/2 HOURS SHE DIED OF ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE ON JULY 28, 2009. SHE WAS SHAKING HER HEAD BACK AND FORTH TRYING TO SAY NO; I CALLED THE ALEXANDRIA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE RAPIDES PARISH SHERIFF DEPARTMENT NEITHER OF THEM WOULD HELP OR STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING. EVERYONE TELLS ME THAT THIS IS LEGAL AND IS ACCEPTABLE FOR TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS. MY MOTHER WASN'T TERMINALLY ILL SHE WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL WITH A URINARY TRACT INFECTION AND WAS MISDIAGNOSED BY THE ICU DOCTORS OVER AND OVER AT THE RAPIDES REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, ALEXANDRIA, LA. I TURNED THIS MATTER OVER TO THE LOUISIANA STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS AND AFTER THERE SO CALLED INVESTIGATION FOUND NO WRONG DOINGS BY ANYONE AT THE HOSPITAL.
