I was shocked that Shriner's in Philadelphia was not listed as one of the top orthodpedic hosptials for children. My daughter is a patient there and the doctor's and the rest of the staff are the most caring, considerate, and knowledgeable medical professionals I have ever dealt with and unfortunately in my family I've dealt with a lot. At Shriner's the only focus is what is best for the child not the insurance company.

I recently was with a relative with a grade 4 glioma of the brian. 12 to 18 month life expectancy. we went to md anderson in houston. The level ofcare, treatment, staff etc was off the charts. It is an amazing institution! Furthermore it sits in a medical complex, the texas medical center, that has every type of hospital, teaching and research facilities that will just blow your mind. I had no idea there was a medical complex like this anywhere in the world. Its truly state of the art down there.

I am a patient in UK who is trying to identify the top centres of excellence for treatment of my condition.
The rankings are a very good start. If this ranking was not available my task would be enormously difficult.
Care in USA seems far advanced from what is available in the UK :(

I agree with Moran of TN. It's the same hospitals every year. I go to UCLA now, and I'm glad to see it's #3 on the list, but I'm not sure that's accurate. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and received far superior care at the Children's Hospital of WI and University of Wisconsin Hospital. Medicine in the midwest is state of the art top notch. They don't spend millions on marketing and flash, but patients from around the world come to Milwaukee and Madison for groundbreaking treatment. I would choose those hospitals any day of the week and twice on Sunday over UCLA. I've heard on more than one occasion that universities pay for "education power rankings" and actively spend money just to make themselves look good, no matter the caliber of the education. I'm sure these hospitals are great, they wouldn't be on the list if they're not, but how much money and effort do they put into self promotion to get these rankings?

I know of a case where this guy Brian Anderson went in for back surgery and died on December 24, 2010. He caught H1N1 at Ohio State University Hospital. The staff at the hospital kept asking My Daughter if anyone at home was sick and the answer all the time was NO. So now all the hupla has died down about H1N1. I am wondering is it SAFE??????????????????????????????????????? Cindy S Columbus Oh

I'm disappointed that none of the 22 Shriner's hospitals were ranked, particularly the Shrine Burn Center. The Shriner Hospitals are one of the foremost, if not the best, treatment centers for kids in the U.S., especially for the treatment of burn victims. What folks may not know, is that the Shriners treat all kids with the most modern techniques, for FREE, absolutely FREE.

I am very surprised that the University of Chicago Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital or Rush-Presbyterian Hospital did not even make honor roll. It appears the same hospitals make the A list every year.

I also feel the University of Chicago should have made this list of top 25 hospital in the US- I am a board Certified Surgical Technologist/ by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and a member of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST). I have been applying to the UC hospitals for a position as an operating room technician as my first choice for employment and community to live-
my fiancé and I are living in Las Vegas, Nevada- we have been in love since age 18 and by the grace of god we are still together. At age 23 my girl was diagnosed with Chronic End Stage Renal Failure. We were young, and we had to deal with her catastrophic illness in the healthcare trenches of NEVADA- the was a kidney transplant program here in las Vegas; however, her healthcare insurance denied her claim to recive a kidney in her own state and they would only cover the surgery at UCLA. This was a disaster for us because in 2005 we were told she would wait 12-15 years at ucla- so we got her on the list and went back to Nevada were her Dr's told her to continue working on dialysis. After one year of her working and none of her physicians giving her any information, I gained alot of knowledge about her illness and found by asking the University of Chicago that anyone in renal failure can recive immediate Medicare and Medicaid from the government- None of her healthcare providers in Nevada for over a year gave us this solid piece of information- which directly lead her to recive a transplant "which was a perfect match" in Nevada months after she recived Medicare- it has now been a sucsessful three years post transplant and we are desperate to move from Vegas to any city that has a Kidney transplant program like the one at the University of Chicago- if anyone has read my short story please leave any feedback that could be helpful for me to gain employment at a large hospital like the UC hospitals so I can uproot our lives from las Vegas to move to a place where my fiancé has a better chance and a better life with her transplant- thank you for any help you may have and thanks to the UC hospitals kidney transplant program for helping us with all your outstanding advice- C. Kuchuris "p.s- don't get sick in Nevada

Website sucks!!!!! Where are you hiding the rankings???????
Stanof MI1:02PM April 28, 2010
I think what they were trying to say is .04 as that is the same as stating 4%, just as a decimal, either way he they would be off though as then he is stating 40%. Yes I definitely would not want this individual dispensing medications!
