Facebook magnifies the sociocultural roots of diet and weight issues are hidden deep in plain view. They are found in the often unspoken and generally accepted expectations we hold about the world in which we live. These expectations are primarily determined by the combined attitudes of people who
comprise this culture and society. It is not surprising to find out how deeply entrenched these sociocultural
systems are to each of us as facebook illustrates for us. More info check out bestselling book- Not Your Mother's Diet.

I'm admittedly overweight and I'm doing something about it but I don't feel pressurized by what I see and read on FB. However, I CAN understand why teenagers and younger people could easily feel like this. One of my current biggest hates is the diet supplement that uses 'Skinny' in its product name. I was doing some research on weight loss and I came across thousands of sites on Pinterest which made a virtue of being literally anorexic.
Parents and schools must take some responsibility here to promote good body image and more particularly healthy eating and exercise habits that will lead to a healthy body weight. People are not the same shape and size - get over it!
You don't have to spend hours in the gym every week to get enough exercise to keep you in trim.
Take a look at this.

No, Facebook is not making anyone feel anything. No one forces them to upload their pics, and half the people that do upload a load of pics only put ones that are perfectly staged to make them appear smaller/ better than they actually look regularly.
People are overweight and unhappy with their bodies. That is what is making people feel health conscious. Many should be but Facebook is not causing it and Facebook won't help them with that issue either.

Facebook doesn't hurt body image. Being obese hurts body image. If you feel fat, it's probably because you are fat. This is the USA, the fattest place in the world.
God forbid you eat right and hit the gym. Easier to blame facebook.
