Popular Kids' Drinks to Avoid

Milk is BAD!! It's got sugar in it now, and you can get vitamin D and calcium from vegetables. Which are way healthier for your kids. Juice should be made in a juicer so you get 100% juice every single time. Our kids are eating way too much sugar. Processed foods are bad for hiding crazy amounts of sugar in them. Cook them a healthy meal and only grass fed meat and we will change our kids health all the way around.

LIARS! MILK IS NOT NECESSARY AND IS PROVEN TO INCREASE CHILDHOOD OBESITY! COWS MILK IS LINKED WITH DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, CANCER, ACNE, AND A HOST OF OTHER PROBLEMS (NOT TO MENTION THE MILK INDUSTRY IS RESPONSIBLE TO MORE DAMAGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT THAN GREENHOUSE GASES!). HOW COULD A "NEWS" ORGANIZATION SIT HERE AND SPEW THIS GARBAGE THAT "THE EXTRA SUGAR AND CALORIES IN FLAVORED MILK IS A FAIR TRADE-OFF FOR THE NUTRIENTS IN MILK"???? THAT'S A BOLD FACED LIE. I HOPE THAT YOU FEED YOUR KIDS THAT FLAVORED MILK THAT YOU ARE SAYING IS SO HEALTHY, BECAUSE IF YOU'RE SO CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO WRITE AN ARTICLE QUOTING THESE LIES, THEN YOU DESERVE THE HEALTH RISKS.

I think Kool-Aid should be on this list.

To make a 2 ounce serving you need 1 CUP OF SUGAR! that is a lot of sugar, and this is a very sugary drink. I honestly don't know if it has any real juice in it, which makes it worse.

WHERE'S KOOL AID ON THIS LIST??!!

This does not applie to all children. Children with higher calorie needs should be consiered in schools, daycares, hospitals and other places that children are served meals. You never hear about their needs, so schools and other places will not consider their needs without miles of red tape that parents, doctors and care takers must jump to meet their childs needs. Parents, doctors and caregivers all become very frusterated and tired of all the stipulations they must meet.

I agree with everything EXCEPT for the milk part. It is absolutely NOT essential for children to be drinking THAT much milk per day. Sadly, once again, this paragraph on milk is part of the great "Government Diet." You body doesn't even absorb the 'acclaimed' amount of calcium in the PASTEURIZED and HOMOGENIZED milk we drink today, because there are no food enzymes present, making it very difficult for the body to digest. Commercial milk is life-less, and in my opinion, just empty calories albeit it is a hell of a lot better than juices and sugary drinks... sugar is by far the biggest culprit in childhood obesity, alongside processed foods. Commercial milk has had the life sucked out of it - all the natural nutrients and enzymes that are present in raw milk - and pumped back in with synthetic versions. There are also other sources of calcium, that are plant derived - where do you think the cows get their calcium from in the first place? The GRASS! Although I would beg to differ if you are not drinking organic milk, then it is probably a synthetic version. As with the part re flavored milk - there is NO WAY IN HELL that it is OK for your children to drink flavored, sugary milk. Have you not watched Jamie's TED talk? It is child abuse! Milk is not essential, especially not 3 times per day! When will people do the research for themselves, and stop listening to the government and corporations' BS on dairy products. And SOY milk is just as bad, but don't get me started on that!
