One question: On what basis of fact do you claim your causes for obesity? I've been in the medical profession for a number of years now, but only recently have been hearing the pure nonsense that seems to be pouring forth from the insane media machine. What do you hope to gain besides what you think is political one-upmanship? I'll respond to each of the causes you've identified Angela.

Lack of fresh fruits and veggies: Are you kidding me? I've traveled the world for the last 25 years of my life and absolutly nothing compares to the availability of fresh produce that's widely available in the United States.

Lack of safe places to exercise: Like a back yard; living room; hallway; etc? Only a moron thinks they need a fancy track, expensive weights or a park to run in to stay fit. It's an excuse only.

Lack of health insurance: What has one's health insurance have to do with the pure common sense of stepping on a scale or looking in the mirror? People don't need to come see me in order to be told that they can lose weight with diet and exercise. Nice political plug though.

Poverty prevents people from buying healthy foods: This is the biggest lie of them all and obvious to anyone who takes a moment to do a little research. Sure, I can buy a cheeseburger for $1. But I can buy two apples at just about any grocery store for the same price. Note: the apples have a higher net weight than the cheeseburger. I could cite numerous more examples but why bother? You've obviously not taken the time to research anything you've stated here, therefore you never did care about facts in the first place.

Do yourself a favor, take some pride in your work and don't let a politically biased editor ruin your credibility as a journalist. You will spend the rest of your career paying the price if you don't.

I wonder how long it will take for this post to be deleted.

Do some real research of OR 1:31AM July 31, 2012

McAllen, TX apparently has the most restaurants per capita. I thought Alabama would have the most obese city, being that it is the state with most obesity.

Angela, maybe you should have done your homework on Topeka. 40% of the workforce works for a city, state or federal agency--which we all know by now means that they have access to health insurance and health care. It's the poor people in Topeka who are skinny. So please stop injecting political bias into your puff pieces. Topeka is full of fat people because they lack pride.

Just want to ask if these metro areas have no small piece of land where families can grow vegetables, fruits and maybe poultry? Or these obese people are just very, very, very lazy to move their ass? Learn from your first lady, Mrs. M Obama where she managed to plant green in their yard. Have you seen her on Ellen Degeneres show where she extremely exceed towards Ellen in "push up" competition? Mrs. M. Obama you are the best first lady had ever been in USAs history... I salute you for being so down to earth. Keep up the good works, God, the almighty is always with you..
