This is just anotner medical trial that will disappear in a few days like the butter, coffee, oleo, etc scares. Say what ever about PSA screening, IT SAVED MY LIFE sbout 5 years ago. My PSA had a gradual increase over a one year period, had biopsy, sure enough, cancer was detected. Had my prostate removed and no futher cancer has been found since....so take this trial test for what its worth...nothing. Get a PSA test on a regular basis and live longer. I know I've been there !

In Europe, almost no-one circumcises unless they're Muslim or Jewish, and they have significantly lower rates of almost all STI's including HIV.

Even in Africa, there are six countries where men are more likely to be HIV+ if they've been circumcised: Rwanda, Cameroon, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, and Swaziland. Eg in Malawi, the HIV rate is 13.2% among circumcised men, but only 9.5% among intact men. In Cameroon, the HIV rate is 4.1% among circumcised men, but only 1.1% among intact men. If circumcision really worked against AIDS, this just wouldn't happen. We now have people calling circumcision a "vaccine" or "invisible condom", and viewing circumcision as an alternative to condoms.

ABC (Abstinence, Being faithful, Condoms) is the way forward. Promoting genital surgery will cost lives, not save them.

Take this study with a big grain of salt. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer as the result of PSA tests. My own tracking of PSA results resulted in a graph of PSA vs time that allowed me to convince my doctor to reduce the time between tests, followed by a byopsy which confirmed the presence of a fast growing version of the cancer. I had removal surgery followed by Radiation (upon Cancer recurrence). I have had no detectable PSA readings in the last 5 years. Yes I have some limitations from these procedures but I am alive and kicking today.

While new testing procedures may inprove results, don't knock these tests until a better one is well tested and widely available.

Screening, "early detection" and treatment of a "disease" that 100% of men will have if they live to be 100 is big business in this country. It has been commercialized by exploiting "cancer" fears and the marketing of unproven debilitating treatments ... and its ruining many men's lives. In a different world, what all men will get if they live long enough would be called "Age-related prostate degeneration" -- something that has no relation at all to the real aggressive prostate cancer that kills very few -- and for which, as with most cancers, there is no proven test or screen or treatment.
