Who DOESN'T want kids to have good health care? But then, we should -ALL- have good healthcare. The healthcare system in the U.S. is one of the most pathetic I have ever seen in ANY country of it's size and economic power.
While on the surface this looks like a good bill, it's an indication to me that NOTHING will ever be done to fix the horrible healthcare system that PREVENTS sick americans from getting decent healthcare without running up a HUGE medical bill.
IF we're going to revamp healthcare, let's do it RIGHT and fix the entire system! Socialized medecine for ALL as an option and alternative to (not a replacement for) the current nightmare.
Anyone who thinks that the system in Canada, or France doesn't work.... doesn't know ANYTHING. The American people have worked HARD and FOUGHT HARD, and we deserve a nation that offers socialized healthcare to ALL. If you don't want it... you don't have to take it.... but it SHOULD BE AVAILABLE for everyone.

In my state and my hospital, specialty practice groups employ their own additional social workers to sign kids up for the state program which has plenty of funding.
Bad parents are the short link now. We have had to provide police escort to parents to ensure they fill prescriptions, which are no cost to them, as a condition of their child's discharge.
This has reached a level of absurdity which, just like intentions to improve schools, may only improve by addressing the responsibilities of the parents. If they don't participate in the process the children will be lost and endure their lives among the underserved, unproductive and statistically destined to be dependent on our collective well intended conscience
It is the population of ignorant parents who don't accept their responsibilities that is hindering delivery of the available funding for medical care.

The Right won't be satisfied until our children are working 12 hour days in the textile mills and our elderly are dragging their half-dead starving carcases down the sidewalk. The proponents of social Darwinism will never give up and therefore we, the People, can never give up. Struggle must be our accepted way of life.

Since the new legislation will insure children without regard to citizinship status, and California is spending by far the most on illegal alien healthcare, this bill will send most of the 32 Billion of US taxpayer money to bail out California's debt. Those of us in Califonia thank the rest of the US taxpayers for spreading their wealth and helping us in California from newer state taxes.

In the past it’s been difficult for the uninsured, especially children, to receive quality ongoing and follow-up healthcare because there was no previous record of their condition or treatments. Valuable time was wasted gathering basic information, and in some cases essential health histories have been lost. The lack of continuity in treating the uninsured is one of the big problems facing our health system. The proposed SCHIP extension will potentially insure 4 million children, making portable electronic health records more important than ever.
