Health Buzz: America’s Unhealthiest Cities and Other News

I live in Huntington, West Virginia as well, unfortunately I have to agree with the study. For some reason the community here will agree with the fact that heart disease, diabetes, and other weight related diseases/illnesses are at a staggering high compared to other US cities and a true concern for the medical health of our community and future of our children...BUT! They wont give in and agree with the obesity rates of the metro-area. It should be obvious to anyone that the health problems our area faces are a direct cause of the obesity!

The mentions of our area being under educated is sadly true as well. We have a WONDERFUL university, but unfortunately the graduates tend to leave the area for a better job and higher salary that can only be offered elsewhere. Many who do stick around after graduating never get the chance to use their degree because there are no positions available for them in their field.

I'm in no way trying to say that our town is in a ruins, or that the city isn't a nice place to live....I LOVE THIS CITY! But my love for this city is the reason I have to be honest with myself and others and agree with the studies. Its so sad to see children who wear a bigger pant size than me....and im overweight as well (5' 10" 210 Lbs.). I wish these parents would sit back and take a minute to realize that they are killing their children. I have taken incentive...Over the past few years I have lost almost 100 pounds through easy little lifestyle changes that i have stuck to. Its not hard once you take the time and go for it! I hope others will do the same!
