These are interesting statistics. The African-American Society has to wake up to the reality that Gay and bisexual community is not going anywhere. We as a Race of people must take responsibily and to love one's self.

The real issue here that was not stated in the title is that "Black Men are the primary carriers of the disease" and passing it on to Black women. Black men need to be responsible and use condoms as a means of preventing the spread of STDs.
That said, Black women need to protect their health and avoid high risk partners (ex-cons, drug users, men with multiple partners) and most of all require condoms and regular AIDS tests.

Unfortunately I disagree in the statement of the previus reader, it is sad that he/sh thinks that black women are poor judges. I think any one who is not informed of their partners sexual endevours is just as likely to contract any sort of sex related disease. Ive been researching this topic and most new case in African American women happen in the same areas. Unfortunately these are the underpriviledged areas of urban cities where the people are underserved from a healthcare perspective and an educational perspective. Not saying I am an expert on the topic but I am an educated BLACK woman I and many others like me do not make choices on our mates based on material objects and I doubt most of these women inffected did either.I only ask that readers look a little further than one article and maybe check a medical journal or even cdc.gov and get a little more information before making such ignorant assumptions as the author of the previous comment.

Black women are poor judges of character and are superficial. In other words they don't think and only see cars, preety looking down low men and want men to save them. That's the truth.

THIS HIV/AIDS disease has advanced and progressed and never failed to stall in all world nations!
India and China the two nations which will most likely to grow out of controlled and millions of people will develop to the level no available human capability to stop or confront with this disease anymore! This is due to they are too many and they don't have any capability to confront this silent disease to expand!
USA is a nation which will also go out of controlled with the devastation of this disease!
I strongly believe that in the coming future, USA alone will have several millions citizens having this deadly and uncurable disease! all over the nation!
And this is the global growing and no-way-to-cure nightmare!!!

Education is the key. All black women should read "The Straight-Up Truth About the Down Low" by Joy Marie. This book was a definite wake up call. The true stories were real and powerful. I will never have sex without a condom again.

The real deal is every women, is at risk the reason are very simple we are sleeping with men who do not care about what they are bring home.I can tell you from a very bad experiences that i had. we as women trusted our boyfriend or husband to much with our bodies. Men today are sleeping around with other men, and are drug addicts, and selling their bodies for drugs. I was very wrong to think if iam negative for hiv so will my man, the trusted was my husband was hiv postive and he kept it hiden, and he was a drug addict and run the street without any shame. I felt like he had a secret life and love affair with both sexes. We as women has to protect our self and dont let any men destroy our children life. "Get out why the getting still good" This mean if you are in a realationship like that and you are not affect with the disease because it was just by the grace of god, take your kids and run run run like hell.

I think that the diseases that prevail are the result of a generation of people who are living a lifestyle outside or apart from God. The reason I say this is that we people in America know that sexual immorality and homosexuality is a sin. We also know that adultery and cheating on your spouse is a sin. Yet, we don't want to acknowledge our wrong-doing. Our attitude is that we want to make our own choices to do what the bible tells us not to do, and that God is imaginary. No, he isn't. God is a spirit, but he is also all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-sovereign. The wages of our actions and choices is death. Just because we make up our own minds how we're going to live our life don't make it right. Even marriage alone is not enough to keep us safe from the aids virus. It is my sincere recommendation that we first consider the type of lifestyle we're living. Ask yourself if your lifestyle is in line with what the bible teaches. Next, ask yourself, is the person I associate with and socialize with living a wholesome life. Finally, ask yourself, is the person I'm considering having a relationship with a christian--a real christian. Not just somebody claiming to be one. The greatest lesson we can learn in life is LOVE. I love my wife so much that I will not cheat on her, even if the sex isn't all that good. I love my children so much that I will not mistreat them nor will I ever be a bad father to them. I love my neighbor so much that I will not steal from him, nor will I be dishonest in any way. I have enough respect for people that I will always speak to them and do for them the same things that I want people to talk and do for me. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Christ loved us enough to die for us. Can't we at the very least, love our neighbor and respect our bodies and other people? Our bodies were not made for sexual immorality, but for the Lord of Lords.
