Whoever wrote this article clearly did not do any research beyond the one family's story. This is just another sensationalistic fluff piece; typical of the disinformation that is rampant in "journalism" in the US today.

Shame on you.

I think that if u smoke weed and can still function in every day life go for it. I do good in school.I plan on going to collage someday but weed isn't for everyone because it has different effects on people. So those people should have common sense and not do it easy as that. Therefore those dumb people are making it till But these piss test are crazy because teenagers are going to do what they want u can babysit your child 24/7. The only think piss test did for me is make me find out ways to beat them. It is so easy my parents watch me piss and I still beat them.I think it is joke for people to get in trouble for a little bit of weed i mean if u get pulled up with a gram of pot u known how much trouble u get in. This stuff is crazy just make it legal everyone dose it presidents have did it. I beat some of these so called parents do it or have once tried it in there life's. But why be hippocrates just toke up peace no war man. I say f*** a piss test and f*** the government for not making weed legal.

after doing this children can and will never trust their parents again. So everything the child do will be kept to themself

this is ridiculous, being a family is all about having trust. its wrong to randomly drug test your kids if there is no evidence of drug use. and besides, marijuana is much less harmful than all other drugs and alcohol. Everyone needs to chill out and realize that.

Reading all of the above comments I am saddened to see the level of denial from most of the people. Drugs are a huge problem world wide. No user stays a user. They will all at some stage become abusers of drugs and then finally addicts. They will potentially destroy their own lives, the lives and sanity of their loved ones and the ultimate consequence is death. There is no truth other than this pertaining to drugs.

What more needs to happen before people get off their high horses and stop believing that their case is different? Drugs cannot be controlled. They do ALL the controlling!

I can be stopped at anytime by the traffic police and asked to present my driving license. No argument. My 'human rights' are not taken into account. I need not have even done anything wrong on the road to cause suspicion. Why is it different with our children. Why is there a problem with randomly testing for drugs even if there is little or no evidence of drug use. Often as parents, things have to be glaringly apparent and a disaster has to take place before we consider that our kids might be using. Why not randomly test, it need not be an ugly issue. Keep communication going. It need not be invasive. If your kids are clean, then why should they have an issue about being tested. Trust does NOT play a part. Explain your reasons. Offer to be tested as well so that it's not unfair. Same rules for everyone in the family. We are living in a very dangerous drug world. We can no longer put a clean label over an ugly scar and give it a new name. Our youth is under attack and are merely prey at the mercy of evil predators Never be complacent and believe that is wont happen in your family. Drugs do NOT discriminate. Race, creed, money and social standing are NO protection against drugs. A caring, open and involved family are the best prevention!

I have my son randomly tested at stat testing in baytown, tx. their site is wwww.statlabs.com. They're super helpful and very nice. The great thing is that if you do find out you kid is on drugs they can help you with programs that can counsel him/her.

They do just about everything

People that come onto this site to talk about drugs and stuff are looking for somewhat different views on whats being said. Well, you guys blow, get a life, take ur kid into the doctors like everyone else, leave ur lil' rugrats alone, give em' money, and buy them alchol and pot, maybe a little meth, some crack-cocaine, oh, heorin is good for the soul too!

-thanks for letting me waste your time = )

I think that this website is a piece of crap. people on here need to get a life and understand that you should not randomly be able to test your kids; kids need to be able to come home to their mother and father, not the drug police. If i get a 4.0 and do all my chores when i get home and take the dogs for a walk, I still haave to worry about taking a drug test from my own mother and father? as for the kid who thinks pot is okay, yeh dude, you like living with your mom until your mid 40's? people should be able to do whatever they want as far as medication goes as long as its withing their own home and not harming anyone else of any nature.

Drug testing is becoming more and more prevalent in a lot of places these days. There are a lot of drug testing solutions these days, from instant drug tests, to lab results verified by Medical Review Officers (MRO). There are also facilities that help habitual drug users quit their habit. However, nothing beats prevention, and for most people, home is where it starts. These poor folks did all they could. If someone wants to beat a drug test really bad, they may be able (not always) to succeed for a short while before getting caught - but even still, look at the price of that!

Pot is illegal, like it or not. If its illegal you don’t do it bottom line. I do random drug test on my kids much like my company does on it employees. I f you don’t check you don’t know. Kids are smart and retain a lot of information on a daily basis but have no idea how to use this information and it’s our jobs as parents to help them. We all have lied to our parents one time or another but that doesn’t mean you tell you children it okay I know your going to lie anyway. Its our job to be protectors and guide our children through the steps with expectations out of them after all there suppose to be better version of our selves that go on to not make the same mistakes we did. So parents don’t listen to this guy keep in your kids business let them think your always there it what were suppose to be doing.
