Organ donations and Egg donations

OK WTF reallly. MY wife and I have 2 children. One she came with and one I brought.

Our youngest is hers, our oldest is mine from before, that all said I got "clipped" about 3 years before we met, and had figured "I have one, she is beautiful, I don't need to add to the populace." Well, guess what?here we are. "hrmmm, I wonder, if YOUR son is soo beautiful, and my daughter is SOOOO beautiful, then I wonder what OUR baby would look like. I may never get to find out. We are both students, and I like to think we raise our children well, and I don't think one more would be too big a burden. However, the cost of V-Sect reversal is around $5000 flat. I simply don't have it. Now onto Organ donations.

If there was a system in place that would allow me to donate MY kidney for say $25,000 then I feel that would make the pain of having to get cut open and everything worth donating. (Sorry if I seem insensitive.) I think this country needs to set up something like that up in this economy.

What price parenthood?

I truly sympathize with the plight of the infertile, but I'm a little concerned about the tendency toward the commodification of children. "Landing a trophy spouse" used to be an unspoken goal in society, and it contributed to the cheapening of marriage. Pursuing parenthood at any cost, incentivizing egg and sperm donation, lending credence to the idea that everyone is entitled to a child - I don't know. Something doesn't seem right to me about this whole area. Granted, I've not looked into the issue, but still, something doesn't sit well.

DNA & Compliance

I agree with Amy's comment above. As an attorney in the field of ART, as well as an agency owner, I understand completely the need for ethical guidelines in this industry. I think that the Donor Network Alliance is a good start, which is why Conceptual Options has joined.

Infertility Answers, Inc

If you are considering Egg or Sperm Donation, Surrogacy or Embryo Donation, research is KEY! There are so many facets to the Third Party Family Building journey that it's imperative that those seeking to be donors or surrogates do their research as well as Intended Parents looking for the services offered from women advertising themselves as "good candidates". You can find information regarding these issues and more, including medical and legal concerns world wide, on Infertility Answers, Inc. http://infertilityanswers.org/ This easy to navigate site is perfect for those just starting to understand the complexities of Third Party Family Building.

Wishing you all the best!

Ehtical Guidelines for Egg Donation?

As an infertility professional and an attorney with experience in this field, I am very much looking forward to joining the Donor Network Alliance. I am delighted by representations made the DNA principals that only those egg donation agencies who are FULLY compliant with all ethical guidelines as established by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine will be allowed to participate. How wonderful for consumers that they can access the collective databases of those practices where donors are not compensated at $20,000, $30,0000 and above. I am very much behind any effort whereby the ASRM Guidelines are taken seriously and 100% complied with.

Hopefully, efforts such as this will close down those shops who practice outside the guidelines...consumer advocacy at it's best! The first question any consumer should be asking is: "Are your agency practices FULLY compliant with that which the American Society of Reproductive Medicine has set as both ethical and appropriate."

DNA is a wonderful option

It can be a daunting process finding and egg donor, especially as there are new agencies popping up all over the United States. This explosion of egg donation agencies has caused the competition among them to use bigger, better, brighter descriptions to dangle the carrot of having the all time best donors available - in other words promising the most "superior donors." In my experience (and if you truly look around) most agencies have fantastic donors! Some are exceptionally beautiful, some are exceptionally bright, some are exceptionally talented in athletics or dance or music, and some are just exceptional women wanting to help other people have a family. There is not one agency that simply has better donors than the others, rather it's a situation of simply finding the best one for YOU. For this reason alone, I think that DNA is one of the best ideas our industry has stumbled upon in the last decade!

Instead of our couples having to go from agency to agency to agency to try to find someone who they connect with, they can go to one place to help narrow down their search. It's an already difficult journey to get to this place, so any agency who truly understands why they started to work in this business in the first place will agree that anything to make life easier for our intended parents is well worth both our support and efforts. I commend these competing agencies for putting DNA together to work on our intended parents behalf for the greater good. As always, we are stronger united.

Sincerely,

Make a Race

"Prospective parents enter their search preferences—hair color, eye color, education level, race, nationality, religion, location..."

Well, how about that!

I can select and match egg and sperm donors and populate my own city!

Over Population

All the different treatments out there for people to have kids is absolutely ridiculous! We have numerous problems in this world and over population is definitely one of them, and one of the causes of all these problems as well! They're are millions of kids that need to be adopted. Why are people paying so much to bring more mouths into the world that we have to figure out how to feed? We are overextending the earth's resources. How can it possibly keep up with all the people? I know somebody who already has 3 kids and she started taking medication that cost $75 a month so that she could get pregnant. Well, now she's pregnant with twins...and guess who's paying for it? All of us! She went straight to Medicaid as soon as she found out she was pregnant. How can we allow people to take medication to get pregnant, but we have to pay for them to have the babies?! All of these things are ridiculous. People need to stop being so vain, buck up and do the right thing, adopt!

Egg Donation

People seeking fertility treatments - through third party reproduction should also consider having treatment in South Arica. With wordlclass fertility services - including the best fertility clinics and a worldclass egg donor agency - egg donation costs a mere fraction of American fees.
