Stresses not mentioned

Many other things add to my stress level. These are things that are off of my husband's radar screen. They are keeping on top of the daycare, school, Brownie, etc. holiday "parties." Each class in daycare has a holiday party, so I must shop for some box of crackers, etc. and have it to daycare. It is the same with schools. And Brownies, plus the craft that must be handmade. Children should have parties, but no one writes about the added levels of stress when women must remember to fulfill each of these additional demands on top of work, motherhood, house work, supposedly having time and interest in sex and time for ourselves...No wonder that we don't sleep well and have increasing health problems.

Get some perspective.....

it's a DAY. A day that's become WAAAAY to commercial. Make memories with those you want to spend the time with and FORGET the gifts. Everyone will appreciate not only saving the money but the stress of finding a gift for someone JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE "SUPPOSED TO". Why be buying just to be buying? My husband & I gave up buying for each other 10 years ago and spend the holiday on vacation, JUST THE TWO OF US spending time together. It's made the holiday FUN....no stress!

TALK to hubby about downscaling the whole thing. Chances are he'd be delighted to do it this way with you. Schedule yourselves to some church event at a church you've never attended. Sit in a Christmas Eve pew somewhere unfamiliar, hold hands and thank Jesus for what He is. Also thank Him for the person you go there with.
