Is HPV Vaccine to Blame for a Teen's Paralysis?

My granddaughter took this shot along with her other middle school shots. I begged her mother not to let her have this shot as I felt it hadn't been on the market long enough to know the long term side effects. She has not felt right since the shot, has been to the doctor numerous times with viral like symptoms, and most recently (5 weeks after the shot) is having neurological symptoms. She says she feels "weak" and her fingers and toes will become temporarily paralyized and "curl up" on her. She stays tired all the time and looks fatiqued and drug out. She complains of stomach pains. We are talking about a healthy, 12 year old gymnast who has never had any medical issues prior to this shot. She will not be taking her second and third dose of this vaccine! I feel her chances of severe problems from cervical cancer are less than her chances of severe damage from this vaccine!

Is Thimerosal in Gardasil???

As the parent of an autistic child, I would like to know if Gardasil contains the preservative Thimerosal. Right after my son was born, my family's pediatrician told my husband and me that autism was associated with the triple MMR vaccines, and she recommended that our son receive the vaccinations singly. We followed her advice, and our son suffered a mild case of autism called Asperger's syndrome. I have seen autistic children who received the triple shots, and they have very severe cases of autism. Thank God our son's condition is treatable, and we are glad he has made great progress beyond initial expectations.

After reading about neurological damage apparently caused by various vaccines, I wonder if vaccines, such as Gardasil and the Swine Flu vaccine, contain Thimerosal and if this mercury-laden preservative Thimerosal is responsible for the complications attributed to various vaccines.

Can vaccines be formulated without the addition of Thimerosal so that possible neurological damage and illness can be avoided?

Gardasil shots

I think the American public has not had enough information to protect ourselves from thie vaccine. The Governor of TEXAS set out to MAKE THE SHOT MANDATORY - That is a stupid and unbelievable requirement for our little girls. I would never give this "test" shot to my kids. Clearly, as seen on tv and on the news, we don't spend enough time making sure our medications are safe before they are put out for public use. Consider Baycol, now the 3-month no period birth control is causing blood clots, Chantix, the cigarette killer... and the list goes on. Please, let's be careful with some of the power given our elected officials and let's ALWAYS make sure of the connection between the elected official and the maker of the drugs.

My story

After fainting after the injection of all three Gardisil shots, I have been left with a terrible neurological disease, Transverse Myelitis. It has turned my life into daily pain and medical debt that my credit will never recover from. I am 24 and was told by my doctors that this was just another step in my lifelong vaccinations. Please don't let your young girls risk their life to prevent something that is preventable on its own with careful monitoring. 3 in 100,000 women die from cervical cancer, 3 in 100,000 are left with permanent disabilities from this vaccine.

Vaccines - not a panacea

The flu vaccine is also associated with multiple sclerosis, guillane - barre, a neurologic disease and others...rare but real. These associations are very hard to prove, but one can argue, just as difficult to disprove. The government in turn has only responded by giving money when adverse effects occur as a result of vaccination. They have not, put in the appropriate amount of research time and effort to ensure safety. Just wait until these rushed swine flu vaccines come out...we'll soon be seeing the after effects at the hospital and clinics. The government will only continue to deny. You are nothing more than a statistic and overall, there is a benefit to vaccination, to those who survive and avoid side effects. A regular physician cannot refuse to vaccinate patients, or they could lose their medical license. They don't make any money though, from the vaccination process. They could lose a lot though in a lawsuit. Blame the lawyers and the government, that is the source of the problem.

Debilitating Neurological Symptoms after 3rd Gardasil shot

My otherwise healthy, active, athletic 14-year-old daughter has experienced serious neurological symptoms 15 days after her 3rd HPV shot. . She was transported by EMS to Children’s Hospital after she experienced sudden onset paralysis that began at her feet and rapidly spread to just below her shoulders within 24 hours. You could not touch her anywhere below her chest, as even the slightest touch was excruciatingly painful. Her chest felt as though she had a tight band around it. It was difficult for her to talk, and it became difficult for her to keep them open. Jolts of pain would surge up her spinal cord into her head. Her torso muscles front and back swelled. For three days she could not lift or reposition any part of her body beneath her chest. She lost all reflexes in her legs. On day four, she began to move again – very slowly, very deliberately, with assistance. She was released on day 5, with a walker, anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant medication. It took a total of 10 days and extensive Physical Therapy for her to be able to walk “normal” again.

She has seen Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Pediatricians, Rheumotologists, Internal Specialists, Pediatricians, Physical Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers. They have run MRI’s, CT’s, Ultrasounds, and x-rays. She has had two lumbar punctures (they missed the first time), blood tests, and urine tests. The medical professionals have ruled out Guillan Barre, Epstein Barr, West Nile, Lyme disease, encephalitis, meningitis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and bacterial infection but do not have the slightest idea what is going on!

The only abnormal findings include: MRI showed small arachnoids cyst (oval shaped, 11 mm in widest dimension) with accentrical deviation from T2 to T10, but no impingement or damage noted to spinal cord. The Neurosurgeons felt that the cyst was most likely present from birth- and more importantly could not be what was causing her sudden onset of symptoms. West Nile was detected in blood, but apparently from exposure along time ago (was not high enough levels to be acute). Low blood sugar on one test (had not eaten). A Psychologist is treating her in the event that her symptoms are psychosomatic.

She has experienced at least 4 repeat episodes 1-2 days in duration) over the past 6 weeks. Every episode begins with strong surges of pain in her spine, followed by the swelling of the ab muscle just under her left rib cage, and the one just alongside her sternum (each episode this one gets bigger), and the muscles next to her spine as well as those on her lower back. Ultimately these muscle spasms impact the signal that tells her legs to walk. At times during each episode she is very shaky, and often her eyes twitch. Often her vision is affected.

She seems to respond a little to amitryptalin. Alleve does nothing, Advil helps a little with swelling, Toradol is the only thing that touches the severe pain, and it only reduces the level from a 10 to an 8. I only let her use this as a last resort. She takes a daily regime of Prilosec.

Today her muscles are tightening up again. I don’t know if she is getting better or worse. I never know if she is going to be symptom free, or paralyzed from one day to the next. The hell she has experienced since June 20 (16 days after her final HPV vaccination) is expected to continue for the unforeseeable future.

What are we thinking

Why are we giving 11 year olds vaccines for sexually transmitted diseases? Should we not be promoting sexual abstinence outside of marriage, especially to 11 year olds. The same folks who bring you condoms and more condoms, which are not reducing but actually causing more sexually transmitted diseases, overall, not bring us the dangerous Gardasil vaccine. Yet there are few programs to encourage and support youth in staying sexually abstinent, which is what our program does (http://www.ultrateenchioce.org).
