Prostate cancer

My name is Daniel A. Nieliwocki, i am 76 years old and had a prostate exam 2 years ago and the doctor ask me what i was doing since my prostate was like a 25 year olds. I told him back in 1974 i read in a health news letter that they did an autopsy on a 25 year old accident victim and a 67 prostate cancer victim. In there research they noticed that the 25 year old was had quite a bit of the nutrient ZINC in his scrotum and that the 67 year old had not a trace of it.After reading that i put two and two together and started supplementing my self with saw pametto and Zinc, doing it since 1974 plus other supplements and here i am no prescription drugs, no pain,no artheritus,no cholesterol problems. I strongly recommend that each person take natural supplements for optimum health.

Disappointed Vitamin Consumer

I am very disappointed in this study and how it's being used to trust a large cloud of doubt on the health benefits of supplementing with a variety of nutrient supplements. Of coarse their have been overly zealous claims form initial population studies suggesting possible benefits for supplementing your diet. One would be foolish to " throw out he baby with the bathwater", though.

The fact that any single nutrient or combination of a few nutrients would actually cover over the sum total of poor diet and lifestyle habits, is a false notion that is well understood by those who understand the science of health, from a holistic perspective. having said that, many of us health professionals who are actively following or involved in nutrition research or practice, belief that the proponderence of the evidence falls clearly in favor of a balanced approach to micro-nutrient supplementation. Also, that their will be benefits that will very from individual to individual. Most though, will benefit from functional deficiencies, antioxidant protection, anti-inflammatory benefits, wound healing improvements, cognitive function, cardiovascualer protection, vision protection, immune function, liver detoxification benefits, and yes, even cancer protective benefits. All of these things I've listed above are supported by research data, even if it isn't proven by cause and effect. Safety and proof of cause and effect has always been the gold standard in working with toxic pharmaceutical medications. Many in the research community of natural agents have argued that we don't need to have such a high standard because of nutritional anthropology showing clearly that natural agents of interest are safe and are not magic bullets to treat diseases. They are simply health measures that once informed of, one may choose to invest in taking over their life.

health care freedom is at he core of this issue. Many Americans are naturalists and would prefer to take natural dietary supplements over synthetic and toxic drugs in dealing with their ailments as they age. Fortunately, the U.S. market is leading the world now in the development of these natural technologies due to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. This law allowed for a great swell of competition and the following consumer demand that to this day fuels this market. Good for consumers and viewed as not so good for drug company manufacturers, although, I would argue to differ on the later. Drug company executives need to just stop putting all of this effort into debunking the benefits of natural agents with results that many experts could have predicted in the first place. Only to cast a cloud of doubt on buying supplements. Instead, they should focus their energy on implementing vitamins, minerals, herbal agents into their drug strategies that will actually enhance the effectiveness for the patients. Food for thought! for positive research information on vitamins, I recommend www.lef.org. Enjoy!

Cancer

Cancer is nothing but division of cells which are not able to sustain themselves due to reduced metabolism. The reason of reduced metabolism is low stomach acids.

To increase stomach acids I have the following points:

Stop leakage of stomach acids by not drinking water for 5 hours after a meal. ANd stopping drinking water 1 hour before meal.

Promoting acids: Drink tea and other things that promote acids 1 hour before meals.

2 meals a day. No meal after 5.00 PM.

No rest except on empty stomach.

No water except on empty stomach.

Aging is nothing but acids leaking from stomach and creating toxic tanks.

About On Men

It's fitting that On Men is being revived by Contributor Ford Vox, M.D., a resident in rehabilitation medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis. He will share his thoughts about the latest medical research and issues that affect men. Dr. Vox, who also reports for Reuters Health, knows he should spend more time swimming laps, but that would cut into his soothing soaks in the aquatic center whirlpool. Push him into the deep end with questions and comments at onmen@usnews.com.
