What Men Can Do About Dwindling Testosterone Levels

Low T-Levels
I am 51 years old and I was tested this past May of 2009 and learned I had a very low level of testosterone and began injections in June. It has been 5 months and I have had no side effects at all. My sex life has been the largest and most important improvement. Until the injections began I showed signs of ED today I show no signs at all and enjoy the sex life of a 30 year old!
Additionally, I began lifting weights about a year ago and once the therapy began I have seen significant muscle mass gains and body fat loss.
Personally, I would recommend this to anyone that is experiencing these problems but I would only do it under doctor's supervision.

The Dr Max Powers testoterone booster is great - ofcourse it improves sex drive [like large amounts of testosterone would if you take a larger amount], since it is the real deal.
I would definately recommend this product to men whose levels of testosterone were diminishing, as with age.
I Ordered the Dr. Max Test Boost product as supplement to boost my energy levels and such. I took one pill each morning with a meal.
Testosterone HRT
I have been on testosterone replacement therapy for a about 4 years. My dr. first had me ue Androgel once daily, 5mgs. He increased it to 7.5 grms, which was too much gel to aplly effectively. I then switched to a coulpounded cream which was much easier to use. Last year my new dr., actually a Nurse Practitioner, switched me to injections starting once a month. Three months ago, she changed my dose to one injection every two weeks. I feel better at this level; however, the reason I wanted to start therapy in the first place , even though my testosterone level was low, below 25, was ED (erectile dysfunction)! I have been divorced for 12 years, and began having ED symptoms about 4 years ago! So far, I have not received the benefit I am looking for, regarding treatment of ED. I am going to keep trying, because I don't mind the injections. My last lab test on September 18th showed my level to be 380, up from 233 on June 25th. My free testosterone level is 13.3 up from 5.2 in June 25th.
It appears that I am improving, but It hasn't kicked in yet for ED!

Dear Sir,
My level of testosterone is below normal, which I have known only recently. Although the symptoms (decreased to now sex drive, loss of initiative to go out and meet some one, though I don't experience depression as such and would be more interested to keep my mind engaged in say share mkt. or any thing technical related to my profession - so most of the time I am on laptop)and something uneasy in the mind have been for the last 4/5 years, but lately I was more conscious about nearly no sex desire and it would disturbe me to the utmost and many times give rise to flare up on some issues. My age is 62, I have no ailment of any type as such and I am physically fit. Only concern is sex urge so to say.
Above comments, there is mention of applying Androgel on skin daily (dose as advised by physician), skin he means on the testicles?
Second is about wearing androderm patch?
Third one has mentioned test cream recommended to him by a naturalpath.
Sir as I am reluctant to take any injection or oral medicine I would be interested to for either of the three above after consultation with the physician or the supplier. Here in India especially in B,C class cities I don't trust much the so called Drs.
I would be pleased I you can help me get the source address of the above to interect directly and to know more about the product.
Regards,
Narendra

THe new Test Pellets
I'm a 34 y/o male who has suffered depression for many years. While at my MD about a month ago I was talking about my weight gain, and lack of drive for anything. I could still get a solid erection, just didn't really care if I did or not. It just so happens that my MD also does HRT.
We tested my levels with a simple blood test; I was 33 at the time. From the entries I have read I'm assuming most of you are refering to "Free test" not total. Well my free was 25 (v/s ~75) and my total was 107 (v/s 850-1150). At these levels he was amazed I could even have sex he said. He advised there is a new product out called "testopel" that is FDA approved (read: PAID FOR MY INSURANCE!!!) LOL He inserted the max of 12 of them in my left hip with a simple office procedure that was painless and took about 20 minutes.
It is 4 weeks later and Ihave had a LOT of stress including the loss of my job. However, even with something like that going on I have noticed a a serious increase in my ability to not sleep all day. I can sleep 6-7 hours and be up all day. Before the insertion I would sleep 15+ hours on my days off and live on caffine when I worked. (I'm a RN by profession and a volunteer Firefighter/Paramedic.) Also, I am starting to have the modivation to get out of the house and live on my days off. Before all i did was work, and then sleep until I could go to work again.
Understand that with the pellets it takes 3-4 weeks to really feel things as opposed a day or two with injections. However, this is a once every 5-6 month dr visit, not a couple times a week injection. But to mee it seem like the best option if you have a busy life, or like haveing a constant level in your blood versus the peaks and trouphs of the injections.
To me I think this is the secret to my depression no one ever found... I can only look to the future to hope that I continue to feel better and get to "normal." With my life normal might feel pretty darn good!!!
Is your skeptical; well my advise is to go for it. Forget all the BS about side effects. Barring Prostate issues or hormone related cancers (things you either already have, or will not have to worry about) there is nothign to worry about. As long as you stay in normal ranges you will get only benifits. Sure there are stories out there... and if you go to a quack and want to look like Arnold back in the 80's... well steroids will do that. If you area the mature normal american man looking to get back something you are missing... well like me, just getting to what "normal" people call "normal" will probably make you feel great. I have no regrets, and recomend it to anyone whose MD offers it as a treatment.

Testosterone supplementation
I am currently taking testosterone injections, .5 cc once per week.
I have been taking these injections since November 2008.
Before I began testosterone supplementation my testosterone count was 21, which is extremely low.
Now my testosterone is about 210, which is 10x what it was, but it is within the normal range.
I have experience no bad side effects, but I have experienced some good effects.
I have more energy, more strength, my muscles are a little bigger and firmer, and I have lost some body fat without trying.
My libido is also improved.
If you ask me, I say it works, at least im my case, and I'm very happy that I decided to try it.
I am 64 years of age.
My Doctor Just Called
I am a 60 year old male on numerous heart medications due to a prior heart attack 4 years ago. When I had my blood tested 3 mos. ago, my testosterone level was at 60. The doctor put me on Testim 1%. After a blood test to recheck my levels, my doctor called and advised me that my level has only increase minimally to 106. He is going to put me on androgel 6 pumps a day. The front of my hair is starting to thin out alot. Is this due to the treatment? I like the guy in the above article feel somewhat releived that I don't have internal urgings and this allows me a certain freedom. Can someone please give me some feedback, as I am not sure at this point if I want to continue the treatment and if I don't what is the downside of low testosterone beside the obvious (no sexual desire)
4 weeks post treatment
I am 4 weeks into testosterone supplementation. I was depressed and lacked motivation needed to do just about anything. I couldn't stand up for myself in a relationship and felt like a complete failure, in spite of a knowing that I should be able to do these things! Since starting treatment, I've noticed a marked increase in energy and initiative. I've also noticed a huge spike in my sex drive. Somehow, I was already in great shape--in fact, the doc said he couldn't believe the shape I was in with the low testosterone I had. And now, my workouts are better and I'm getting more lean.
I did a lot of research on the issue of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and consulted with a medical friend on the other coast who's doing HRT. I'm taking hCG and progesterone supplementation in addition to the slow dissolving bio-identical testosterone pellets the doc put in the fat of my butt cheek. hCG (subcutaneous injection) stimulates the testes to prevents testicular atrophy due to exogenous sources of testosterone and progesterone (sublingual liquid each night from a reputable vitamin supply company in California) helps keep the testosterone from converting to estrogen as well as other not so great potential metabolites of testosterone (yes, men have estrogen and we need it but too much is NOT a good thing--produces man boobs among other problems).
Make sure your doc is reviewing your blood work carefully, esp. in the beginning of treatment. CBC to make sure you're not at increased risk for blood clotting (stroke/heart attack), estrogen (estradiol), Free and Total serum testosterone, FSH and thyroid functioning, and a base line PSA is essential. It's important to be an active participant in your health care.
I'm a psychologist and now, when a man enters my practice in middle age with complaints of low energy and/or depression, I send him to his doc for testosterone and thyroid evaluation. It's important to rule out... antidepressants can't treat depression caused by testosterone or thyroid deficiency.
