President Obama Hosts Health Reform Summit

Leader Obama?

Obama does have one thing in common with Lincoln, he is adding another category to Lincoln's famous philosophy regarding fooling people. Obama seems to believe and appears to be right that he can fool MOST of the PEOPLE Most of the TIME. I am not comforted by the leader (term used loosely) of my country showing more interest in the world than in America. I am not fooled, being a world leader means making America less than his #1 priority.

The fact that he considers himself to be a world leader is contrary to where his focus should be. Past presidents have been described as world leaders (by others) due to how their leadership positioned America to lead the world or at least allowed America to remain a world leader. Here is a man playing president on the world stage as if taking all the leaders from all the countries, and adding a few key members of fanatic religious groups constitutes a world government. And, he appears to be positioning himself to be selected speaker of the world in the best Nancy Pelosi tradition. By sacrificing the needs of those that elected him for the greater wants of those America has offended.

It should be apparent to all Americans there are fundamental differences between us and others such as creativity, drive, desire, and risk. And, these differences should be celebrated because they are the base components of America and Americans. The attitudes of the founding fathers and the American people have made this country great, not government actions that serve only to stymie American spirit.

I fear the repercussions of this presidents actions and I believe it is obvious that he has no more desire to lead our country than he did as a US Senator, state representative, community organizer, or church member. Look hard America for any evidence of any accomplishment of Obama, I fear you find only words about ideas and theoretical discussions without results.

Stop comparing Obama with other leaders and this administration with past regimes and focus intently on the present reality. We all need to ask ourselves where are these platitudes he oftens refers to, and is he taking us toward any of them?

Barack Obama's Health Reform Is Going The Wrong Way

Barack Obama's Health Forum including mostly the people who have a need to continue the system, insurance companies, doctors, pharmacists etc. Our culture and lifestyle are creating the disease, accidents and stress that keep the medical institutions and their universities alive.

The best health care is prevention. Our system creates disease, accidents and high health care costs. We are polluting our air, land, water, air and food and ourselves to death and trying to hold onto the system. Our system is wrong and it is coming down. The good news is there is a better system to replace it, true freedom and independence. The goal in life is not employment; that was our error and it caused the world problems. We can turn to a "Garden-Paradise-Retirement-Lifestyle" by beginning to choose trees, plants and animals that provide fresh food around us. If our communities have abundant food, we can take people into our homes; if there is no free food, there will be violence and thefts to get it.

This health care crisis requires the same action our other crisis require. Check ordinances about one pet goat or sheep and chickens. They are no larger than cats or large dogs. If they are not allowed, start petitioning the city to allow them and to allow use of land in the land trust to be used for community gardens. The goats, sheep and gardeners will save the city the cost of mowing these lands several times a year. It is a benefit for all sides. We will solve the health problems with God's simplicity even as it solves our unemployment crisis, environmental crisis and financial crisis at the same time.

Howard Dean

recently made clear what real "reform" actually means. It means you get to have a government insurance option (such as medicare for all) that you can CHOOSE instead of a private corporate plan. If, when it's done, there is no government plan option, then there was no real reform.

That simple.

As for Docs not accepting Medicare patients and Medicare level reimbursements, that too is simple. You WILL, or you will not have a medical license. Got guts, anyone? How ELSE do you think costs can come down?

health insurance

Good afternoon from Seattle.

President Obama you mentioned when campaigning that Elizabeth Edwards would be part of your health team. I wish you would give her that opportunity, I believe she would be a benefit. It would also give her her dignity back, (not that that fine lady could ever lose it.) Please consider.

Also, I am on Medicare and I don't know if you know it, but many doctors will not accept Medicare. Why, because they are underpaid for their services. I do have a supplemental with AARP which helps, but it still does not open the door to Docs who will not accept Medicare. I still think Medicare could be improved and make it, or something similar the insurance for our citizens. By the way, I do pay $254 per month for my insurance; this does include the prescription plan.
