govt subsidized COBRA
I was laid off Feb 7,2009 from Macys Inc with a severence pkg that would pay for 3 months health insurance premium..I elected COBRA and started paying reduced premiums (35%) on May 7, 2009 according to the stimulus pkg..Was told it would continue for 9 months..Received a monthly statement for 12/1/09 for the full amount, two months too soon. Spoke to SHPS and they said Macys decided to cash in on stimulus program for the first 3 months..only giving me 6 months at reduced rate!! THats not how the paperwork I received read...Do I appeal to Dept of Labor and how can Macys get away with this? Doesnt sound right! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

I hope it will be extended, because there are still no jobs available.
Extension of Subsidy
Will the subsidy be extended beyond December 31, 09? I will be losing benefits as of 1/31/10
Cobra subsidy
My granddaughter worked for Peace Health in Eugene Oregon which is a church plan. They did not opt in to the subsidy. She was terminated from her job. Is there any way for her to get the subsidy? Her Cobra coverage would cost nearly $800 a month and over $1000 if her husband were covered.

My husband's employer is saying he is not eligible after Dec. 31st to receive the Subsidy. Is this true? He was layed off on March 31, 2009 and December makes 9 months. They are saying the subsidy has a 9 month duration.
