Running shoes less is more

I was a young runner playing aroune and logging 50-60 miles a week and up by the time I was 12. It wasn't until I received a "real" pair of running shoes when I experienced my first set of shin splints...and then an injury or two every year. I was strong so nothing too serious. I now have picked up running after 10 years of mostly off again running. I put in 26 miles my first week...the first thing I did was find the oldest pair of shoes in the house and tore out the insoles....I reverted to a different pair for One day and whammo I felt as though i sprained my foot...maybe I did. But padding around barefoot seemed to bring me back and into correct posture....Sure I had lots of lactic acid the first few runs but NO joint pain....We are remembering who is boss: our bodies, not the corporates.

My experience

I'm 56 years old and have never been able to run without pain until I read this book and used the technique (self taught). I ran a four mile wooded trail yesterday with no pain or stiffness. I usually am sore and stiff after just hiking this trail. I realize this is only one case, but it worked for me. BTW: I was never out of breath or tired to the point I had to stop. I believe there is something to this.

Mila "the miracle seed"

Hi, my name is Jennifer Smyth and I read David Quicks article about your book Born To Run in the Charleston Post and Courier. I was recently introduced to a whole raw food called Mila from Lifemax. Mila is a mixture of Salvia Hispanica L, the Chia seed and I have felt a world of difference since I started taking it. I am 7 months pregnant now but began taking Mila 2 months ago feeling more energized. Everyone said I look great, and want to know what it is I'm doing. I tell them its Mila. Before I got pregnant I ran a half marathon. Had a rough time with aches and pains. Now I am looking forward to running after I have the baby and after being on Mila for several months. I feel that adding this to my diet has improved my health amazingly. For more information go to www.smythj.lifemax.net

I hope everyone gets the same results I did.

shoes

I just want the shoes. Anyone know how or where I can purchase some?

Shoes

All this seems to make sense, except that the shoes might be important just because we run on pavement so often.

So what should we wear to run?

I've got flat feet I'm told. I can't stand for long periods of time. Long hikes and walk bring me pain. Any thoughts?
