Muscle loss

I was doing fine until my 2nd year on Lipitor. I became so weak I could not bench 120# down from 185#. Now on much lower dose of Crestor and at 80 years back up to 150#. But amazed at how scrawny I look.

I don't know If I said it already but ...Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I'm glad I found your blog. Thanks, :)

A definite great read..Tony Brown

Bill Bartmann

FYI.....Plaxico Burress The NFL Footbal Player Begins Prison Sentence Today!

Not that I have anything against the guy but finally these athletes might start to get it....You CAN'T just do anything you want and get away with it. If I get caught with a gun, I would have to do time too.

Just my 2 cents.....

Soy alone is not a complete protein

Most of the article was accurate, but soy protein is not a complete protein. I hope the author can correct this inaccuracy.

Soy is a legume, one of the "beans" mentioned as needing to be combined with corn or rice. "Diet for a Small Planet" is a good bible to consult.

Katherine Hobson: I'm quoting here from an FDA publication in 2000: "Soy protein products can be good substitutes for animal products because, unlike some other beans, soy offers a "complete" protein profile. Soybeans contain all the amino acids essential to human nutrition, which must be supplied in the diet because they cannot be synthesized by the human body. Soy protein products can replace animal-based foods--which also have complete proteins but tend to contain more fat, especially saturated fat--without requiring major adjustments elsewhere in the diet."

Muscle gain with aerobic exercise

Aerobic exercise doesn't produce any muscle gain??? Then why do previously sedentary individuals who begin aerobic exercise programs often have fat weight loss but no total weight loss? I agree that aerobic training is not specific for strenth gain, but the idea that no muscle is gained is patently false. I recommend that you go reread the "science".
