Pilates Cross Training
For over 75 years ,Ballerinas, arguably some of the best female athletes in the world have been using Pilates to rehab and prevent injuries. This tried and true method has stood the test of time and has enabled many alight athletes to recover from carrier ending injuries but most important prevent future injuries.
Using other sports to cross train is good but prevention is the key. Focusing on prevention by developing an athlete from the inside out starting with a strong core, muscle balance and a mind body connection is what Pilates is all about. Pilates is not a sport but mindful form of exercise that should be part of the foundation of all functional cross training.
From movie stars to Olympic athletes people who can afford the best training in the world chose to incorporate Pilates into their workout routines for one reason…. It works. It enhances their performance and gives them the edge to be the best they can be.
Pilates is turning the fitness world inside and helping individuals prevent injuries, enhance performance and play long and strong as life goes on.
First we fellows wanted girls to be dainty. Now we want them to be "warriors", up to and including boxing, mud wrestling, football and soldiering in far-off deserts. Can anyone say overboard?
By the way, what's the status these days of how the costs of sports injuries get financed in society? Employer group policies? School policies?
