I have a serious problem with eating sweets! but my question is, are diet sodas loaded with these sweetners?

Trying to lose weight???

Anyone trying to lose weight - all I have to say is JOIN WEIGHT WATCHERS!!!! It works and it is healthy! DO not use any diet pills or colon cleansers - all this did was make me sick as it is not good for you health. With Weight Watchers you are eating real and natural food, unlike other programs where you eat their prepackaged, freezrdried crap that makes you sick. If you can't make it to WW meetings - join WW on-line - it's worth the $ and you have everything you need right there - interactive tools, support, message boards, preplanned menus and shopping lists - what could be easier!!!!! Please try it, I am so glad I did.

Eating right

I am trying everything I can to eat right. The best way I found so far was to cook for myself. So that is why I just got into cooking. My girlfriend bought me this great cookbook that I am using. It is called "Get in the Kitchen, BIT@HES!" It is hilarious and has some great tips in there. I am making food I never thought I could. There are even some great recipes on the website.. google it and check it out...

2nd Rule

The second rule is probably the most important one, even for people that don't have obesity problems. Excess in food usually happens because we don't give priority to good food. If we eat substancial nutritious foods at least 3 times a day, squeezing in treats or snacks in the middle is no problem.

Cut back, see your doctor

To Steady Gaining and to anyone else steadily increasing weight for unknown cause. I, too, am having the exact same problem. I have noticed a slight decrease in my rapid weight gain by replacing a piece of fruit when I get sweet cravings. I love coffee drinks and I sometimes have 2 a day. I have cut out the second one and I choose the "skinny" version now 5 out of 7 days a week. I still indulge in my favorite drink a couple times each week. I have been opting for grilled instead of fried. I have been choosing vegetables that are "green" instead of starchy sides to my meals. It is helping, but I know it is not enough. I don't have medical insurance, but I do know that I need to see my doctor to have myself check for thyroid problems since the weight gain was so sudden. I jumped from 215 to 265 in less than 3 months. I would recommend to steady gaining to join a support group like Weight Watchers or go to a weight loss clinic since you are alone and have no one to help you. I have been researching some options myself. I want to join a weight loss clinic that has doctors that can check me first for any underlying medical conditions and then put me on a diet plan to get me back on track. It's hard to lose weight. It's even harder to adjust to your "new you" when you know what you use to weigh. I use to weigh 140 lbs at 5'9". That was 15 years ago. I have never been able to get below 180lbs since I had kids. I haven't seen a "1" in front of my weight now for 8 years. I would welcome a 199 on the scale!! Please reach out to get some help. What you wrote here, send that to a company like Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, to your doctor. Send it to anyone that is in the position to help you, professionally. Leave your contact information so that they can call you and find ways to support you to go to their office to start the path to success. You can do it!!

To beat cravings, sometimes works....

I have tried 2 things that work some of the time:

1. I tell myself to wait 15 minutes and see if I still NEED it. (I will even set the timer).

2. I will make a cup of herbal or spice tea.

This one works especially well at night.

I also try to keep sugar free jello w/ fruit in it in the fridge. That works best of all, when I remember to keep it made.

To Gaing

There is no outside help that will put you on a diet. Any diet you choose will work, but YOU have to do it for yourself. Addictions are the only diseases that can only be cured by the addict - but a doctor can help you somewhat. Reading your story made me feel so sad for you. Get going! Take care of yourself. It's not too late, and just keep starting over if you flub.

Ice cream

Instead of ice cream, eat sorbet, or frozen yogurt!

hypnosis

If you have lost all hope in control of yourself, consult someone for help. A lot of sucess is credited to hypnosis. Hypnosis can help dieting an extraodinary amount, there are even articles on how to do self-hypnosis to loose weight on the internet. Do yourself a favor, change your lifestyle just a little, become more active, and whatever change you make, call it a RULE. Follow these rules:

1. Take a walk outside at least ONCE every day.

2. Walk EVERYWHERE you can, EVERY chance you can.

3. ALWAYS take the stairs. (i lived on the 8th floor of a building and took the stairs 4 or 5 times a day to keep myself in better shape - it feels wonderful once you're all the way up =))

4. Park at the END of the parking lot.

5. When you get a free minute, go for a WALK, or rollerblade! or ride a bike! It's fun!

6. If you can, take public transportation, it takes more time and energy, which means less time you will spend eating something..

7. NEVER go through the driveway, it's convenient, but trust me, it takes the same amount of time, just less effort - effort you could use to loose weight.

8. Do NOT eat anything fried - choose grilled or steamed or baked insted - it will do wonders...

9. If you eat with other people, ALWAYS eat less than everyone else. Even if it means that they eat two peices of cheese and you eat one.

It's a constant fight, but put yourself above food: it's tempting, but it doesn't have any intelligence, you can't have a conversation with it.

You have seen the worst, and now you are gonna change for the better such that no one will even recognize you after it!

weight gain

Like "Steady Gaining" I have been gaining weight over the years.

I'm now 57 years old, 5 ft. tall and weigh 250 lbs. When I was 27, I weighed 110 lbs. I'm a nurse and I should know better.

I just got out of the hospital for treatment for a blood clot in my lung, and liver problems. (I do not drink alcohol). I also may have heart problems.

I also suffer from depression, and have become an "emotional eater". I would eat mostly fatty foods, high carb. foods and sweets. I would come home from work, and eat junk food like cheese crackers, and candy - especilly chocolate. Also, antidepressants can cause weight gain in some people.

Being hospitalized was a wake-up call for me. I realized if didn't change, I would face more hospitalizations and declining health, and more medications. Since I've been home, Ive been eating whole grain cereals, low fat yogurt, lean meats, fruits, and vegetables,

Steady Gaining, get help if you are depressed or anxious. There are clinics that are low cost if money is a problem. If you are lonely, join some clubs, join Weight Watchers, or look for an Over Eaters Annonymous Group. One thing i didn't do because of my depression is find social support, ans I have been fairly isolated socially. Don't wait until you get a wakeup call like me. I amy not be out of the woods yet, I may have permenent liver disease and heart disease from poor diet.

Good Luck.
