I'v been a personal trainer for over 15 years and this article is great. More women need to be informed on the benefits of strength training and given some basic tools like these to implement an effective program. Also, the information on the interval training for cardio is very accurate.

I used to think I’ll develop big macho looking muscles from weight training. I read an article on http://www.female-workout.com/female-workout/4-myths-that-keep-women-from-weight-training. I could say I’m one of the women who think that way. I might try doing this weight lifting.

I have a question reguarding the amount of weights women should lift. I have been lifting for 3 years and I have been increasing my weights. I have heard that women should not lift to heavy. I enjo lifting and I want to continue to challage my body. should I continue to increse my weights?

Weight Lifting for Women
I have been doing weight lifting now for about 3 months with no cardio. I do a circuit program with little time in between machines. I do 10 reps to failure and concentrate on the large muscle group. Also, the diet has been clean, little or no starches or sugar. I have seen better results than I ever saw with years of cardio (same diet). Also, the big secret!!! Cardio made me HUNGREY. The weight training does not. My body is changing in ways I could not have imagined. I wish I knew this years ago!!!!!

Weight Lifting for Women
Thank you for explaining this in easy to understand terms. Especially the comment about form! Not doing it right has been my biggest hinderance to lifting on my own. Now I can use all the equipment I have purchased and stored in my "exercise room".
