Legalize Marijuana? Obama Was Right to Say No

Haha
The only legitimate argument you have is the whole "making it more accessible to our children". Which it would do, however it is still a very lame argument. It would be no different than keeping your children away from alcohol and cigarettes, it's the parents responsiblity. If it were to be legalized and a child got ahold of his fathers stash, who's fault is it? The governments for making it legal? We all know the answer and it doesn't take a M.D. to find it, however it may take a M.D. to twist it up into a big fat lie. Oh and by the way, the C.S.D. after my name stands for Common Sense Doctorate. GET ONE.
Government
The government may say they care about your safety in theory... There are several reasons why they won't legalize it one of the major ones is that it will indeed cut into someones pockets somewhere along the road. I think that it should be legalized. I myself as much as many other people who have responded have looked at many different recorded statistics. Cigarettes and alcohol kill so many people. I have never heard once a marijuana related death that has been linked directly to brute affects of it. The only possible marijuana related death I could imagine ( made up ) would be that a man gets blunted then gets the munchies then chokes to death on a cheeseburger. That man didn't die from pot... he died from a goddamn cheeseburger!!!! Its a real shame that so many people still remain that will still try to lie about the drug to hide the fact that the only reason they don't want it legalized is that it will cut into their pockets making them look like jackasses.
If anything alcohol and cigarettes should be banned.
What?
Where are the studies that prove it is a brain toxic drug? Even if it is how is it any worse than alcohol or tobacco? When it is proven that there have NEVER been any deaths contributed directly to the use of marijuana, and yet alcohol and cigs kill thousands every year and are proven to be addictive drugs. I think that if people are so worried about their children smoking pot then it should be decriminalized so that we can regulate the use of it and stop wasting billions of dollars prosecuting innocent people for simply observing their human right to put whatever they want in their bodies. i know that there has been an awakening in America and it wont be long before the people give the government no other choice but to give us our rights back. It is ignorant to think that the government has any right to tell us as Americans what we can or cant put into our bodies, their job is to protect us by warning us of negative effects not to make the decision of using something weather it be alcohol or marijuana. I thought we learned something from the last time the government tried prohibition i guess that we will have to re educate them once again. What happened to by the people for the people? It is all just a group of corporations knowing that if it was decriminalized it would cut into someones pocket. we the people will continue to use it and will continue to be prosecuted and the government will continue to waste our money on a clearly failing war on drugs, when in retrospect its not harmful at all. in fact every study that i have found (396) there where no negative effects what so ever and to say that it is brain toxic is a lie, studies have led to an effective treatment for memory loss in the elderly. my grandfather smokes it for this very reason and it has improved his short term memory. there are no studies that prove any negative effects of marijuana. its not even addictive!! To say it is is a lie! if you say that it is psychologically addictive then so is driving a car or chewing gum!!! this is wrong and you are a liar an closed minded when you have FACTS to prove ANY NEGATIVE effects i will most certainly change my opinion. .

People assume that marijuana was made illegal through some kind of process involving scientific, medical, and government hearings; that it was to protect the citizens from what was determined to be a dangerous drug.
The actual story shows a much different picture. Those who voted on the legal fate of this plant never had the facts, but were dependent on information supplied by those who had a specific agenda to deceive lawmakers. You’ll see below that the very first federal vote to prohibit marijuana was based entirely on a documented lie on the floor of the Senate.
You’ll also see that the history of marijuana’s criminalization is filled with:
* Racism
* Fear
* Protection of Corporate Profits
* Yellow Journalism
* Ignorant, Incompetent, and/or Corrupt Legislators
* Personal Career Advancement and Greed
where are these studies that say it is brain toxic?
weed is good
weed is good and should be Legalized♣ Legalize Marijuana
legalizing pot
my only thought about the issue in leagalizing pot is that cigarettes are legal and they do more damage than pot would to a persons body. i also want to add that a pothead unlike an alcoholic does not kill from DUI or have high anxiety which causes anger and hostility especially to loved ones. i think the country would be a happier and more profitable society with the leagalization of pot.
Why Not?
In no way do I understand the justification of keeping this plant illegal on the basis that alcohol and cigarettes continue to be legal. How does any sane person with the least bit of sense think this is right?! I honestly expected more out of the American people. If one does research on why it became illegal in the first place that would perhaps open some people's eyes. Racism and lies was the cause. I believe that people are ignoring the real facts and still oppose it only because the government says to do so. Lets try something new, think for ourselves and realistically weigh the pros and cons and forget about its current legal status while doing so because that is obviously causing a bias.
My believes on legalizing marijauna
I believe that saying yea to the bill would be bad. If he said yes to it everyone who smokes marijuna will think they can. But should only be for medical use only. Im a drug whos drug of choice is marijuna. Marijauna messed up my life. Another bad reason for saying yes would be when people find out its only for medical use there going to freak and its going to be a bad thing.
Thanks mike
sorry
I did not mean to be oversensitive to the issue. I do feel the statistics and assumptions quoted in the article are misleading and many of them inaccurate. I do not mean to offend you as I am sure you are a great doctor. I am not a lawyer, and did not mean to hold myself out as one only a joke. I look forward to kick up the debate in my own state soon. I do disagree with your post, however realize I was out of line and would like to apologize for calling you names that were not appropriate and immature.
sometimes
You are a dumbass. Just because you have a m.d. doesn't mean your assumptions are right. Trust me Im a lawyer......joke.
Well I really am a lawyer, and you really are a duesch.
I know we are only suppose to post things that are clearheaded well thought out and rational, not flame posts. But this truly deserves the Billy Madison may god have mercy on your sole speech.
Please burn your degree or sell it like you have already done with your soul.
