Yes We Can Dupe You

Oh, good god. Papa Dada Obama's made a "terrific" choice for charlatans: another Hollywood-style Orator, complete with a fake "spiritual" pedigree, for his exotic looks and name.

So what if he works in a hospital for high pay when he's not getting higher pay shilling for TV? Hospitals have a HORRENDOUS death rate owing to their own chemical barbarianisms.

"Modernized," my illness-and-doctor-free ass. I haven't been ill in 30 years. I know how. It doesn't cost a thing. These high-priced bone-pickers don't, but they'll try to scare you away from taking responsibility for your own well-being, same as the government has been doing for decades, for the same reasons. God knows they're starving for one more machine that goes "ping" and more pills to keep you sick and dependent on them.

Even these twerps know that the body heals itself of whatever it's got 85% of the time in the first place. But they want all 100% in the hospital so long as their insurance is paid up, or they don't get to go golfing.

But never mind the incredible blunders of "modern" medicine. Let's outlaw fat chicks now! Danger, everybody, danger! Feel guilty if you're not slim (that'll make you sick, too; come to Dr. Papa)! Better buy this! And buy that! Better subsidize the well-dressed establishment quacks! There's fool's gold in them thar folds, gents!

What arrogant Duckspeaker wrote this mendacious advertisement for politicized medicine? Hoping to be a star one day? Get a job.

Riiiight.

So I'm supposed to believe that things have changed?

Obama is a puppet that the Senate and special interest groups will tout before us whenever they need him to wave a flag or kiss a baby to distract us from the real issues of military attacks and spending, education, health care, and environmental reform.

One administration is no better than the next, for the system itself is a lie, built upon the trading of favour and power between individuals, behind closed doors, who have no interest whatsoever in the public that they claim to serve.

It also doesn't escape my notice that this glowing endorsement comes from the a lady who served the administration of George W. Bush as an advisor on bio-terrorism on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology since 2001, and throughout the events leading up to and continuing during the so-called "War on Terrorism".

Dr. Healy for HHS?

Dr. Gupta is indeed a fine choice for Surgeon General, a role acts primarily as a public advocate and educator about health care. It's a "pulpit" more than a policy role, and Gupta is the right guy.

How about his boss, the Secretary of Health and Human Services? As of yesterday that nomination is vacant, and the White House appears to have no good backup plan. Would Dr. Healy be interested? Would the President consider her?

She's got the resume: at NIH and the Red Cross, at Ohio State and at the Cleveland Clinic. She has run for US Senate so there's been interest shown in public service. And, as a Republican in a Democratic administration, Dr. Healy's presence in the role would limit the potentially disastrous politicization of the critical issues surrounding health care especially when they hit the floors of the House and Senate.

Just a thought, in the best interest of the country. Dr. Healy: put your name out there if you're interested.

Gupta

The timing is perfect for President-elect Obama to bring in a talented individual to a soon-to-be expanded role of Surgeon General. Leaders in the Senate (Baucus, Kennedy and others) as well as the President-elect will soon make healthcare initiatives a top legislative priority. Despite its shortcomings and deficiencies which need much work, our healthcare system is still among the best in the world. Dr. Gupta (as are others who are being considered for the job, such as Dr. Gail Rousseau of Chicago) is intelligent, knowledgeable, a practicing physician, and a great communicator...and, highly motivated. With expanded responsibilities and involvement, a new modernized Surgeon General can help make a difference at a key moment in the history of American healthcare.

Dr. Gupta is a corporate shill and a yes man. This is not what Barack Obama wants on his team.

Dr. Healy responds to Dr. Stephen A of Tx

You are completely correct. Dt. Gupta did not work on the original Clinton Health Plan that met its demise after the mid-term elections, but was a White House Fellow working for Hillary Clinton on health policy matters later in President Clinton's time in office.
