Calcium & Vitamin D

I am in my early 70's. How much calcium and vitamin D should I take daily? How many times per day and with food or not.

Vitamin D 50000 ul

I am taking Vitamin D 50,000 ul and I hope it make me feel better. My right lower leg has hurted for a year and a half now. Then my tooth broke and the dentist insist that I see the medical doctor. PTH was high and Vit D was low calcium was in range. Everything I have read and what the doctor said to me insist that this will help my bones! Don't like sitting in the sun much (not a all), don't eat red meat, hope the vitimins work.

amount of vitamin D absorbed from the recommendation of 10 minutes of sunlight

does anyone have a good reference regarding actual absorbed vitamin D from minutes in the sun? Need soon. thanks

Vitamin D 50000 ut

My doctor just started me on Vitamin D 50000 UT, which has been two week now. My vitamin D level was very low, talking to

a few of my friends, and they too are taking the same medication. Hope this is not an experiment on women. I never felt bad or had any problems, it showed up in my blood work.

I am a little nervie about this.

vitamin d supplement

i heard that you should take vitamin c with vitamin d works best but i cant remember why and i cant find any information on how a deficeincy of vitamin d can make a person feel

vitamin d deficiency

I have very Low Vitamin D levels and have been taking 3 tabs a day for 6 months. Another blood test shows no improvement in levels. What can i do?

Vitamin D

I just found out my vitamin d level is 17. My doctor put me on 50000 iu once a week and 1000 iu daily. My main symptom was bone pain.

I think I'll go out in the sunlight now.

vitamin D doseage

It appears that there is little appreciation for the fact that the appropriate vitamin D dosage is an individual issue, as one would or should expect when dealing with a hormone. The answer requires testing (25(OH)D) by a competent laboratory. Where we live, along the Canadian border, my wife and I find that a daily intake of 4,000 IU keeps us at the high end of the current suggested optimum range (125-150 nmols/L). Our current brand in Carlson in 2,000 IU oil base capsules.

The next time someone warns you about toxic concerns ask to seen some case studies or actual scientific literature on the subject. The warnings are more medical dogma than science. The toxic effect of most concern is to the pocket book of those who are in the business of treating sick people.

Sunlight and vitamin D production

A day in the sun when your shadow is shorter than your height can generate 10,000 IU, maybe a bit more, but only if you expose all of your body. The production can be rapid at first, but then stops so you do not produce more than your body can handle. Production rates (efficiency) decreases with age so those over the age of 60 years produce vitamin D at 1/4 the rate of those under the age of 20 years. African-Americans produce vitamin D at rates as low as 20% of that for white Americans.

For more information on vitamin D, go to www.pubmed.gov and search "vitamin D" along with any other key words such as "cancer."
