Carole Harris, a senior fellow in the public health division of ICF International, was previously professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry and codirector of West Virginia University School of Medicine Health Research Center. Harris and her colleagues conducted multi-year evaluations of the impact of West Virginia’s childhood obesity legislation (HB2816 WV Healthy Lifestyles Act) and school nutrition policies (Legislative Rule 4321.1), in addition to examining the early outcomes of Jamie Oliver’s school lunch program in West Virginia. Harris and colleagues also conducted randomized clinical trials of lifestyle and pharmacologic interventions for diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Their work was funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Hopelab Foundation.
At ICF International, Harris oversees the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded program supporting the evaluation of the Community Transformation Grants.
