Campbell, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at Joslin Diabetes Center, helps develop and implement all aspects of diabetes education programs, including curriculum and lesson plans; handouts, slides, workbooks, and other educational materials; and training providers to effectively carry out these programs on their own. Campbell serves as an advisory board member of CalorieKing, American’s leading provider of calorie-centric education tools for food awareness, and is a registered dietitian advisor for the Egg Nutrition Center.
Campbell is actively involved in various education initiatives, both at Joslin and with the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Diabetes Association, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association).
She co-edited the second edition of The Joslin Guide to Diabetes, co-edited Joslin Cooks! Favorite Recipes & Food for Thought from the Staff of Joslin Diabetes Center, authored both Staying Healthy with Diabetes: Nutrition and Meal Planning and Staying Healthy with Diabetes: Weight and Wellness, contributed to American Diabetes Association’s Intensive Diabetes Management-4th edition, and serves on the editorial board for Walgreens' Diabetes & You magazine.
In addition, Campbell is a contributing author to Diabetes Self-Management magazine, writes a weekly blog for the Diabetes Self-Management website, and is a contributing expert for ShareCare, Inc. She co-authored 16 Myths of a Diabetic Diet, published by the American Diabetes Association, for which she received both the Will Solimene Award of Excellence in Medical Communication and the 2000 National Health Information Award. Campbell recently received the Will Solimene Award for her article titled “Probiotics and Prebiotics: Parts of a Healthy Diet,” published in Diabetes Self-Management in 2011.
